misleading -- the civil suit over robert wone's death. he was found fatally stabbed in 2006 at the duh pont circle home of three men. after the three men were acquitted of obstruction of justice, his police say the officer is expected to be updated as his injuries are not life threatening. this is the result of police patrolling an area already known for high crime. this unfolded at about 10:20 last night. they were patrolling the area around marblewood avenue and reed street when they thought there was a man engaging in suspicious activity. one of the man pulled out a handgun and shot a uniformed police officer, hitting the officer in the arm. a scuffle ensued and another officer came to his rescue and that's when one of the suspects was injured. they believe it's from gunfire from another police officer. four men are in custody. at least one suspect was transported to the hospital with injuries. police believe it was to the arm of the suspect and does not appear to be life-threatening. we don't know the name of the police officer. he was a part of a special assignment team specifically task with controlling the high crime areas. abc 7 news reporting. 5:31. a tragic discovery in montgomery county neighborhood. a mother shot and killed her teenage son and then turned the gun on herself. \ >> the bodies were found inside their home on simms court in kensington. brianne carter has more from asian about the family. >> in kensington, a gruesome discovery. authorities say a mother and teenage son were found dead inside their home, an apparent murder-suicide. >> she was on leave from work this past friday, had not been heard from on the weekend and did not come to work on monday. on tuesday they got concerned and called police. >> that is when police found margaret jensvold and her 13- year-old son benjamin barnhard shot to death. the mother shot the son before turning the gun on herself. >> the pain that would drive somebody to do something like that has to be awful. >> james barnhard, a father and excise been released this statement saying, "i love my son and ex-wife and was proud of both of them. i will hold them in my heart and they will be sorely missed by all who loved them. please keep us in your proposed." that emotion continues in the neighborhood. there are candles and signs posted outside the house. we understand the mother was a psychiatrist and the sun -- son had just lost over 150 pounds. anyone with information is asked to contact police. brianne carter, abc 7 news. a d.c. council member is being fined and over campaign cargill is announcing the recall of 36 million pounds of ground turkey that has been linked to a deadly salmonella outbreak. the company said the recalled products were made in an arkansas plant then opened fire hitting the officer in the arm. a suspect was also injured. it's not clear how he was injured. investigators are trying to figure out what led to an apparent murder-suicide in kensington. 54-year-old margaret jensvold shot her 13-year-old son benjamin and then shot herself. neighbors are shocked by this. oregon congressman david wu is out of a job. the democrats toresigned at midnight amid allegations he had an inappropriate sexual encounter with an 18-year-old woman. he said serving in congress has been the biggest honor of his life. the thousands of local workers are not getting paid due to the faa shutdown. they're waiting for congress to get back to work. philip stewart is live at reagan national airport with details. >> the president is at the white house this morning after he spent last night in chicago and talking about job creation. but there's a major jobs issue at the nation's airports. 4000 faa employees and 70,000 construction workers are out of work tax on interest from january. casey anthony will not have to return to orlando to start serving probation for check fraud. a hearing on that issue is set for tomorrow but she is not required to be there. she has been out of public view since being released from jail after she was acquitted in the death of her daughter. federal investigators have dismantled a worldwide child pornography ring. authorities arrested 72 people on five continents. officials say they traded tens of thousands of graphic images on unscripted bulletin board. the website has been shut down. the investigation that led to the arrests targeted more than 600 people. don't look for jerry lewis to appear on tv this labor day weekend. the muscular dystrophy association says the 85-year-old comedian is no longer its national chairman and will not take part in this year's telethon. he had said that this year's broadcast would be his last. mda did not give a reason for the changes. alex rodriguez faces serious allegations. major-league baseball says that it plans to interview him about reports he participated in illegal poker games. it's not the first time he has faced questions about his gambling habits.
