Friday night when police say Jonathan Tran scaled the fence heading for the south portico doors, not far from the east wing where the first familys residence is located. Court documents say an officer spotted tran who said, i am a friend of the president s. I have an appointment. They found in his backpack two chance of mace, a book by the president. And a letter to trump. In that letter, tran allegedly mentioning russian hackers. The president praised secret service. Secret service did a fantastic job. It was a troubled person. It was very had. Reporter held in federal custody without bail, tran now facing possible charges of illegal entry while carrying a dangerous weapon. Other infamous white house breaches include this man in 2014, carrying a knife, sprinting towards the white house. Get back, get back reporter successfully making it all the way inside the east wing before being stopped. He was charged with one federal count of entering a restricted building or grounds while carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon. Eventually pleading guilty to both charges. This is not trumps First Encounter with an overzealous supporter. Just last year this man scaling his way up trump tower using suction cups. Later telling police he simply wanted to schedule a meeting with thencandidate donald trump. Steven rogato was charged with first degree reck endangerment and criminal tress passing. He pled guilty. There are plans to boost security by raising the height of the fence. That is set to be completed next year. The other big story ministration this morning. The bizarre standoff with a prominent federal prosecutor. U. S. Attorney Preet Bharara refused a request from the Justice Department to step down and then he tweeted he got fired. Even if this is the first time youre hearing his name, you have definitely heard of Preet Bhararas job. This is the most prom intercept prosecutor in the country. Its giulianis old job. Not many prosecutors get the cover of time magazine. But thats Preet Bharara in 2012. The headline, this man is busting wall street. Back in november, the president elect summoned the fiercely independent prosecutor to trump tower and asked him to we had a good meeting. I said i would absolutely consider staying on. Ive agreed to stay on. I have spoken to senator sessions. Reporter not anymore. On friday, the attorney general asked for resignation letters from all 46 federal prosecutors who were obamaera holdovers. Bah rahrah refused. He tweeted, i didnt step down. I was fired. Abc news learned there were crossed signals. Sources say bah rahrah received a voice mail thursday from the white house asking him to call back and speak with the president. No reason given. Bharara believed speaking with the president would violate doj protocols and he contacted the Attorney Generals Office instead and told the white house he could not speak to the president. The white house declined to comment on the phone call. Sessions decision to clean housca one day after trump loyalist sean hannity called for a purge. The person they thought was a hit man was an undercover cop. A surprising murder for hire plot stopped by police. Reporter a wellknown texas veterinarian and her boyfriend allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill both of their exes. Unusual to find a person concerned about animals and less concerned about humans, i guess. Reporter but police say the wouldbe killers, 48yearold Valerie Mcdaniel and 39yearold leon jacob unknowingly asked an undercover cop to do their dirty work. The accusation, grounds for a judge to deny mcdaniel bond on saturday. She indicated that she wanted her her exhusband taken care of. Reporter prosecutors say the officer posed as a hit man and set up meetings with the two, recording conversations where they offered 10,000 each for the murders of mcdaniels and jacobs former lovers. Police staged a murder scene to prove the hit was done before arresting the couple. Zmi think they have been very helpful in providing evidence to the police against themselves. Reporter mcdaniel had recently ended a custody battle with her former husband. Her boyfriend, jacob, was recently charged with assaulting his exgirlfriend. In court documents, she accused him of stalking her and striking her in the face. Mr. Jacob, we know, was concerned about the testimony. At one point he even offered if his exgirlfriend were restrained to do it himself by injeking her with potassium. Reporter the suspects have been charged with soliciting capital murder.
