Some, barefoot in their haste. The raging battle with civilians caught in the middle. Hundreds of thousands of people besieged by isis, starving to death. Plus, the new evidence this morning of a possible chemical weapons attack. And new patdown procedures. Why your airport screen may feel a lot different than before. Someone who is inexperienced would be very could be very threatened. The reasons behind it. And whos in line to get one . And good morning, everyone. As you can see, dan harris not here. Its so nice to have tom llamas by my side. Tom, thanks for coming in this morning. Great to be here. Busy sunday morning. Certainly is. We want to get to our top stories. Theres twitter video there of President Trump in florida on saturday. The first and only images we have seen of him since his tweet storm yesterday. Hes back on twitter this morning tweeting again. What he wr it all started early saturday. President trump taking to twitter and leveling a dangerous accusation against his predecessor, president barack obama. Alleging, without any evidence, that the Obama Administration wiretapped trump tower during the campaign. The president comparing it to nixon and watergate. He called obama a quote, bad or sick guy, enquote. A spokesman for obama has denied the allegation. So where is trump getting his information . And if the allegations are true, how big could this scandal be . We have team coverage. We start with brian ross. Reporter good morning, tom and paula. The white house this morning has yet to explain just what the president was talking about and where he got his information in the twitter rampage that claimed president obama ordered the fbi to illegally spy on him and tap his phones. The gloves are off this morning. Following President Trumps ac obamas alleged actions and integrity. Only one of these two men will be proven right. As president , donald trump has used twitter to take on meryl streep. Im the new boss. Reporter arnold schwarzenegger. Are you a friendly reporter . Reporter the news media, including abc news. And saturday night live. Yes, this is real life, this is really happening. Reporter but his Early Morning accusations from his palm beach club, that his phones were wiretapped by the Obama Administration, were by far of much greater consequence. Terrible, he wrote, just found out that obama had my wires tapped just before the victory. Nothing found. That was followed by four more president ial outbursts. Taking on president obama and misspelling tap. How low has president obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process. This is nixon watergate. Bad, or sick, guy. For anyone but the president , it would be a crime to reveal such a secret fbi wiretap on trump and no u. S. Official contacted by abc news would confirm the allegation. Its an extremely serious offense. Anyone who would reveal the existence of a wiretap would violate federal law. Reporter because the president cited no proof, its not clear whether he based his allegations on a top secret white house briefing. Or from reading an article on the conservative breitbart website. With detailed speculation from a conspiracyloving talk show host, mark levin. How many of trumps people were eavesdropped on . How many had their conversations intercepted . Recorded . Transcribed . Because this, ladies and gentlemen, is the big scandal. Reporter a spokesman for president obama quickly called the allegations false. Ose restrictions were put in l is true that under president ama, the fbi did open an investigation into whether anyone in the Trump Campaign was working with the russians. If there had been an fbi wiretap about russian spies, it would have been approved by a special panel of three federal judges, not the white house. This morning, hes tweeting again, at 6 32. Is it true the dnc would not allow the fbi access to check server or other equipment after learning it was hacked. Can that be possible . That was the first of a couple of tweets this morning. The president back on twitter. Thanks, brian. Well see you on world news tonight. Thank you, brian. We want to bring in kate shaw, abc news legal contributor. A former lawyer for the Obama White House. Te, thank you for joining us. First and foremost, were most likely talking about a federal Intelligence Security act fisa order. It can only be issued by a court. Brian ross just touched on it. What does it take to get a fisa wiretap . If you want a warrant to wiretap a u. S. Citizen, you need to establish, or the fbi needs to go be establish that theres probable cause to either believe a crime was committed or that theres an agent of a Foreign Government involved. If, in fact, an order was issued, it does suggest that probable cause was satisfied. Legally, did President Trump do anything wrong talking about an investigation . Theres a real interest of keeping the details of the investigation under wraps until such time as the investigators are ready to come forward with them. Legally, they are normally classified proceedings. The president does have the power to declassify. Theres nothing legally wrong with that if, in fact, thats what happened. We just dont know. Senator fwraem wgraham was a hall yesterday. He said hes worried about these accusations. I want you to take a listen. If it is true, illegally [ laughter ] it would be the biggest political scandal since watergate. Now, the Obama White House ordered a wiretap. But theyre not explicitly saying that a wiretap didnt happen. If the allegations are true, could we compare this to watergate . Watergate took a couple of years to play out in full. So i think it feels like were kind of early in this saga. So i think its hard to know how much like watergate any of this could look at the end of the day. The former president has denied personally directing a wiretap. It would be quite a scandal if a sitting president personally ordered one of a private citizen, let alone a president ial candidate. It does not sound like theres evidence to suggest that that occurred. Whats clear is there are a lot of open questions, new questions based on yesterdays development. So, if anything, i think it heightens the need for some sort of independent investigation with someone at the head who has the credibility to produce findings that everyone can feel confident in. So i thing thats sort of, the main takeaway from yesterday. Were talking about an independent investigation. Thank you, kate. Thank you. Tom . Now to reports of turmoil inside the white house. Sources telling abc news the president had furious exchanges with senior staff inside the oval office. Abcs david wright is in West Palm Beach with the president is spending the week end with what got President Trump so fired up. Reporter good morning, tom. The president spent his saturday night huddled with attorney general Jeff Sessions and Senior Adviser steve bannon. The white house busily doing damage control, trying to put the russia story behind them, but clearly, struggling. On monday, the attorney general is expected to offer the Senate Judiciary committee a detailed explanation of his failure to tell the truth at his confirmation hearings when sessions denied having had any communications with russian officials on behalf of the Trump Campaign. In retrospect i should have slowed down, and said, but i did meet one russian official a couple of times. Reporter senior white house sources tell abc news the sessions announced hell recuse himself from any campaignrelated investigations that trump went ballistic. According to sources, summoning his top aides for a meeting moments before his departure for florida. And erupting at them in anger. At 10 40 friday morning, marine one, prepped and waiting, a tv camera in the rose garden captured a glimpse of the tense scene unfolding inside the oval office. Thats steve bannon gesturing furiously in that meeting. Bannon and chief of staff Reince Priebus were both scheduled to accompany the president to florida. Sources say after the meeting, the two of them volunteering to stay behind. White house sources say trump made it Crystal Clear that a week he had hoped would be a triumph well look back on tonight as when this new chapter of american greatness began. Reporter should instead end up mired in questions about the campaigns contacts with russian officials. Quote, we should have had a good week. We should have had a good weekend. But once again, back to russia, thats how one senior official summed it all up. Many trump supporters. Still behind him. Organizing the march for trump events. Which met with counterdemonstrations in california and washington. As for the tense oval office meeting, bannon ended up making his own way down here to florida not on air force one. The white house cautioned us not to read too much into the fact that chief of staff Reince Priebus did not come down here. He always planned to spend saturday night and sunday in d. C. But the bottom line here the white house is struggling with its messaging. Thats clearly a source of frustration. Tom and paula . Certainly is. David wright, thank you for your reporting from florida this morning. So we want to bring in abcs chief Global Affairs correspondent, martha raddatz, joining us from washington where shell host this week later this morning. Martha, good morning to you. Good morning. Where do we begin . Lets go back to the statement. From president obamas Spokes Person who said, quote neither president obama nor any white house official ever ordered surveillance on any u. S. Citizen. Now, martha, thats what the statement says. But what is it not saying . Its kind of what kate said to you. What its not saying is whether or not there actually was a wiretap ordered through fisa. We dont really know that for sure. Donald trump clearly thinks there was something ordered. Some sort of wiretap ordered. But he has, as we have said all morning, not offered any proof. Martha, the president gave a speech to congress on tuesday. By most accounts, a home run. How does this now slow his agenda . Well, tom, you and i were both sitting here on this set on tuesday night and talking about president ial in that speech. He stuck to policy questions. He outlined his agenda. But, days later, hes the one who tweeted and changed all of that. And the focus is now on what he started and what hes accusing president obama of doing. So i think that speech seems about two months behind us now. It was only a couple of days ago. Now, if trump was trying to change this subject from russia with this tweet storm, martha, did he succeed . Boy, he sure did not. He may have put the focus back on himself. Back on the investigation. Maybe a little off Jeff Sessions and the recusal, which were reporting he was apparently angry that he did recuse himself. But still, everyone is going to focus on russia because thats what the president of the United States keeps talking about. He certainly does. Its an understatement to say you have a busy morning. We do. Were going to get the white house to talk about this. Okay. Look forward to it, martha. Well let you get back to action. Thanks, martha. As martha said, shes going to be going one on one with the trump and obama spokespeople. Former Obama Press Secretary josh earnest. Republican representative Sarah Huckabee sanders.
