Well get to her in just a minute but we do have a lot of news ahead starting with that chilling story from iraq. We expect to hear from pes about this sometime today. The video is so graphic. Of course, were not going to show it but it does appear to be the execution of american journalist james foley by isis. Abc news chief investigative correspondent brian ross tracks it and joins us. Reporter the u. S. Government has not con fired the authenticity of have video but the barbaric scenes leave little doubt about what happened. Too disturbing for us to broadcast. Until the end, jim foleys parents never gave up hope he would return safely. But this morning, that hope has turned to grief and to pride. In a message posted overnight on facebook, his mother, diane said we have never been prouder of our son jim. He gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the syrian people. This is a tragedy which is beyond imagining. There are no words to describe this kind of inhumanity. Reporter foley disappeared in Northern Syria about 21 months ago on assignment for global post covering the brutality of the Syrian Government against the rebels. These were clearly army positions throwing shells and heavy mortars into the heavy civilian population. Reporter in the chilling video, posted online tuesday, the 40yearold photojournalist foley is forced to kneel and is clearly coerced but still shows great dignity and courage. I wish i could have the hope of freedom and seeing my family once again, he said but that ship has sailed. It shows another hostage, identified in the video as american steven soltoff, and they say the life of this american citizen, obama, depends on your next decision. In her facebook posting overnight foleys mother diane said we implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages. Like jim, they are jnts, robin. There are more americans out there. Reporter 5 inches of water falling in just a few short hours leading to at least a dozen rescues. Watch as officers knock out the window of this elderly womans van pulling her out of the vehicle to safety. People trapped in their homes waving a white sheet for rescuers who dropped down from above and pulled them to safety, as well. This home, knocked off its foundation by rushing waters. A tree the only thing keeping it from being swept away. There was passenger cars going down the river. Reporter trailers, mobile homes and cars were no match. Washed away by that rushing brown water. Team rescuing a child from an ongoing hostage situation at this home in suburban chicago. Officers were called to the scene in harvey, illinois, because of a burglary in progress. These victims have come out, the hostages themselves, an 11yearold was able to articulate whats going on. Reporter police exchanged fire with the man inside. One officer was shot in the arm. An hour and a half later, a second officer was wounded. Police closed down the block and evacuated neighbors as day turned to night, some relief. When an 11yearold, a 2yearold and a 1yearold were brought out to the porch carried off to safety by s. W. A. T. Teams. And right now Police Believe two children are still inside that house held hostage along with four adults including the gunman. This morning, the body of the American Woman found stuffed inside a suitcase in bali is back in chicago while her daughter and daughters boyfriend remain on the indonesian island accused of her murder. The newest problem is maryland, 50, leaving the beltway headed out toward the Eastern Shore just past 495. No delay, just a crash. 66 out of rosslyn toward the delaycleared, but did not. The newest problem is on the inner loop of the beltway up near braddock road. Apparently the local and through lanes are affected by this. The right side of the express lanes and the left side of the through lanes with this cr ash slow out of springfield. Our forecast of got to be better. Soso. We will see a little bit of everything here, jack. Thunderstorms have been moving across West Virginia and southern pennsylvania. It is all kind of fizzling out across the mountains.
