In a nutshell, according to police, somebody put nooses and bananas around the campus. On the bananas were the letters aka, the abbreviation for Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. The congresswomen will show their support for the Sorority Sisters at the university. They will have a News Conference here and denounce the actions that happened on monday. When it comes to the search for whoever pulled off that crime, that is still under investigation. They are considering what American University campus a hate crime. Lindsey thank you. Right now, a full investigation in college park is underway. Someone found a news on the campus noose on the campus of the university of maryland. The university past president is calling it universitys president is calling it despicable. The noose was found at a Fraternity House last week. Happening today, another crack at a vote on the Gop Health Care bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care act. Sam sweeney is live in the newsroom. Is there any chance that this bill gets past . Passed . Sam right now it looks like its going to pass the house. The boat is expected to be razor thin. Controversial. The sticking point, the preexisting conditions. Lets take a look outside the u. S. Capitol. Last night, republicans amended this bill, adding 8 billion over the next five years to help those with preexisting conditions. Some republicans and all democrats still calling that inadequate. Many in the medical field say 8 billion is just a drop in the bucket. No one knows how much this bill is actually going to cost. The Congressional Budget Office simply hasnt had the time to evaluate the new bill, but republicans are pushing ahead with it and democrats, of course, are fighting back. We cannot wait. We have to transform this. Thats what we will do today. The Affordable Care act is simply not working for the american people. It is limiting choices. It is rising costs. Does the Senate Approved this as it is right now . House has what the done is taken a bad bill at Affordable Care for 24 million americans, drive up prices for others, at the same time they give a big tax cut wealthy people they have taken that bad bill and made it even worse. Now people with preexisting conditions could be denied coverage at any affordable price, and they get rid of what are called essential health benefits, things like substance abuse, Mental Health support, maternity care. The house does need 216 yes votes for this bill to pass today. It still has a difficult uphill battle in the senate. That bill could be voted on at any time. Once it is, we will let you know. Organizations cannot endorse or oppose political candidates and still remain taxexempt. Todays executive order will give the irs more discretion on when or if it wants to enforce that law. Some virginia residents are speaking out right now against Dominion Resources proposed Atlantic Coast pipeline. They are holding a News Conference right now outside of the governors office, terry mcauliffe. They are upset because the proposal includes the removal of 38 miles of abolition ridge appellation ridgelines appalachian ridgelines. Duties are now winding down. Today, the royal family summoned all of its staff to Buckingham Palace for an emergency meeting, revealing Prince Philip is going to step down from public life. Suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. Lindsey the nearly weeklong manhunt for this escape maryland prison inmate is now over. David watson was caught late last night, after a statewide search. Howard county with the very latest on how he was finally captured. Lindsey, at this hour, Howard County police are making arrangements to have david watson transported back to delaware, where he will continue to serve that 106 year sentence for trying to kill cops. The police chief. Howard county says he did not plan this the police chief here in Howard County says he did not plan this escape in advance, did not have outside help. This is the first image of watson after being captured late last night. Watson told police he was eating from out of trash cans and drinking from puddles of water. He traveled within a mile or two radius only. This is the Drainage Pipe where he was found late last night. Police recovered wood fiber, packing materials, hardhat, a safety vest, all stolen from nearby businesses. There was a brief struggle to ge saying he did resist first. The large drainpipe that he was letting down bedding down is here. You can see the pellet packets that he was laying on while he was resting during that period. So, the actual site where he was arrested is approximately half a mile from the rear lot of clifton tea perkins clifton t. Perkins, where he escaped. John someone called 911, tactical teams strategically fanned out in that wooded area. They used night vision equipment to actually find him. As for the escape, last friday morning, the police chief only saying that he was able to remove the restraints. They are not sure exactly how. He says they are currently investigating john gonzalez. That will start very late tonight, especially overnight into tomorrow morning. Our forecast through the afternoon, a little sunshine through the clouds, but the clouds will increase. We will climb to the mid to upper 60s. According to our futurecast for the timing, about midnight, we will see a little and 8 00 or 9 00 in the morning when the rain will fall from this system. It will be heavy at times. There could be some thunderstorms. Definitely slowing down the friday morning commute. The heaviest bands of the storm will say stay to our south east. At about midday, the heaviest rain should end. We will still be open to the possibility of scattered showers friday afternoon, maybe an isolated thunderstorm. Lindsey right now firefighters in houston, texas, are still tried to put out hotspots after this massive blaze that destroyed a restaurant. Nearly 60 firefighters were called to douse the flames, but they were forced to allow it to burn out because there werent enough hydrants in the area. Crews had to haul in thousands of gallons of water from surrounding areas. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation. Caught on camera its a terrifying crash involving an Oklahoma School bus. Video shows a black truck veering into oncoming t and is flipped over before coming to a stop right in front of the bus. Authorities say three people suffered minor injuries. None of the 19 students on the bus were hurt. Another major airliner is coming noon. It has emboldened and legitimized of the behavior. As a former educator, to see the level of hurtful crime be displayed in our schools and on our college campuses, it is heartbreaking. I am here today as a member of congress, as a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha, as a former educator to send a different message to our young people. We are a country rich in country that embraces rich in diversity, a country that embraces tolerance and acceptance. As members of congress, we cannot be silent, allowing young people to think division and hatred are the norm, because it is not. The newly inaugurated student body president at American University and a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority didnt do anything to provoke on animosity witnessed campus monday morning. Her only crime . Being a trailblazer, breaking down barriers as the first africanamerican female to serve as student body president at American University, and we want to applaud her a competent.
