The victim has been identified as 74yearold william patton, a decorated veteran who lived right here. You can he the residue on the door. Neighbors tell us he was a heavy smoker. Fire investigators believe that is what caused this fire a lit cigarette but in the middle of the night. All i heard was my neighbor knocking really hard on the door yelling fire jon some neighbors tell us they were alarm but rather the frantic pounding on the door by this neighbor. It was almost impossible to see heavy, dark smoke billowing out of this apartment building. Right downstairs, you could already feel the smoke, and it was hot like, really hot already. When firefighters arrived, the 74yearold marine corps veteran was still inside. Carried him downstairs, put him on a stretcher. Two dozen residents have been displaced. My daughter was scared. Police are still investigating a metro bus crash this noon yesterday afternoon in chevy chase. 13 people were hurt. The bus apparently collided with a pickup truck before veering off the road and crashing into a tree. Investigators say evidence from cameras on the bus will show the pickup driver was at fault for this one. Authorities are looking into is alcohol played a role in a fatal accident in frederick, maryland, monday on Michaels Mill road in the middle of the afternoon. As Suzanne Kennedy tells us, residents are concerned about the use of atvs on the roadways. Suzanne the incident took place here on this winding road skidmarks left behind from this crash. It happened at 2 45 monday afternoon. The ettrick county Sheriffs Department said the atv crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2014 kia soul. In that car was a woman and her son, neither seriously injured, but the passenger in the atv was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Be a cans were visible on and near that atv.
