For hours after the explosion the potent gas fueled the fire. In part water can take two hours to cut the gas line. In the lengthy press conference, the Montgomery CountyPolice Confirmed they have identified three of the seven victims. Two men and one woman. The injuries so severe the medical examiner relied on science. One reporter asked if the Apartment Building should have been outfitted with a natural gas detector. The maryland state fire marshal saying it wasnt required by may soon be. As for the smell of the natural gas leading up to the explosion the acting fire chief said the Department Ha call on july 25. They didnt find anything. After conducting 100 interviews of witnesses. They believe it comes from the pipe that lead in the nicu as they call it. They say they found bacteria in four sinks in the nicu and three in the regular intensive care unit. Those are treated now. We broke the story that the pipes were an issue and the deadly bacteria were found in the nasal swab of three infants. The good news today, they found none of those youngsters have any sign of infection. Still no comment from the hospital about two previous infant deaths, whether or not they were connected with the bacteria. They say this cleaning and investigation will be a slow process. The best det can make from this as we have done the investigation and mapped the plumbing it is in the pipe, the water system that leads to the nicu. The Washington Monument chronically failing elevator is out of service now for at least ten days. During the height of tourist season. We couldnt go up to the top. Its unfortunate. The elevator broke down three times since saturday. Now it will undergo a thorough inspection. The goal determine what is causing the failures. We are in the shop. There was a sign that says you couldnt go up to the elevator wasnt working. Again. The elevator shaft will be inspected and cleaned as well as the fans and the circuit information gathered will be used to help design a more foolproof elevator control system. The lift doesnt work.
