Time. The science. A celebration in red square, as Vladimir Putin pushes back against the United States. And stressed out . We wire up a man with one of the most highpressure jobs and bring you back lessons about how to manage stress in your life. Good evening, on this tuesday night. As we come on the air, it is now 11 days since that passenger jet vanished into thin air. And all day long, new theories have been emerging around the globe. Is it possible something caused the pilots to pass out . Were they simply testing those communications when they turned them off . Tonight, Abcs David Kerley breaks down the latest facts we know, tonight. Reporter the mystery of flight 370 came no closer to being solved when, again, today the malaysian government, changed the story. So few facts have produced so many theories. The longtime pilot who wrote, it could have been a fire in the cockpit that brought that big turn off the flight path. But u. S. Sources say they remain focused on what appears to be a deliberate act. And it is all because of the tidbits of information we do have. As we first reported this weekend, a source says someone programmed the autopilot for that dramatic left turn off the flight path before 1 07 a. M. 12 minutes later, the final radio call to malaysia controllers, reportedly from the copilot. All right, good night, is what he said. No sign of trouble. Two minutes later, the location transponder goes dead. At some point, another Communication System stops working, too. And the hard bank to the leftmad apparently turning into the indian ocean. The shutdown of the systems, all the turns, tells investigators someone was at the controls that wanted to disappear. Even that is not a complete timeline 11 days in. 11 frustrating days from confusing from malaysian officials. Example, when a Communication System shut down. Was it before the last radio call . It was disabled before. Reporter then, two days later. We cannot determine when it was disabled. It leads to a lot of speculation, not just within the public and the media. Also within people involved in the investigation and in the search. Reporter some of the news today. Thailand said its radar did see the plane around malaysia. More proof of that turn. And tonight, we have an area near australia. Its the size of texas, where the latest intensive search for this missing jetliner is under way, including a hightech u. S. Navy plane. But a reminder, diane. In these aviation incidents, just a couple tidbits of data can dramatically shift and change the focus of this investigation. Thank you so much, david. We have a Surprising New piece of data in this worldwide detective story. Eyewitnesses coming forward to say they saw the plane, above them, in the air. Abcs bob woodruff went out to find them, on the water today. Reporter we traveled to the tiny fishing village kota bharu to find witnesses who say they saw the plane. Could these have been the last people to see flight 370 . So, you two both witnesses this plane . A group of men aboard this boat on the night the plane vanished, fishing for tuna. They say they were here, ten miles out to sea, when they suddenly a jet barreled by them, flying low, louder and bigger than any plane they had ever seen in the sky. How big did it look to you when it went over the top . He tells us that the body of the plane was not clear, but the lights were very bright. Could it have been the plane . The fishermen say they were here. And this is where we believe the plane flew by after making that infamous turn to the left. Did it dive lower to purposely avoid detection by radar, known as terrain masking . Or might it have been dipped because of a crisis onboard . Back in the fishing village we did learn more about fariq abdul hamid, the copilot. This is where his grandmother lives, a palatial home for this tiny village. It is where he grew up. We also came across these children with their pictures of the missing plane. Their hopes, their prayers, are that it is found soon. Bob woodruff, abc news, kota bharu. We bring in steve ganyard. Can thinking lead to the probability of an accident . And maybe the pilots lost consciousness . I think were at the point where were going to have to entertain lots of different theories. If they have any validity and anything that would lead us to that. We cant exclude anything. Were goetting to the point of the investigation, where theres very little science coming in. There will be forensics on the ground. Were at the point where we cant rule out anything until we get the wreckage. Until we get the black boxes. Everything entertained. And what about this location the australians have now targeted, in specifics . Where is it . How easy or hard, now, to get there and search . Theyve pushed the search off to way off the coast of perth, almost twothirds on the way to antarctica. You look at the map, those are treacherous, deep seas. Winter is coming. The rescue effort just continues to get difficult by the day. But does it suggest the australians have something very specific . I believe that the australians and the United States have come to a common agreement that they think that the most likely, that the science is pointing them to this area, well south of perth, australia. It is its not even a needle in a haystack. Its a needle in thousands of fields of haystacks. Very, very difficult. Steve ganyard, thank you so much, for once again bringing your perspective tonight.
