Now even more snow is on the way. The dangerous snow and ice is moving in from the south where high winds have already damaged homes in virginia and a state of emergency has been declared in mississippi. Abcs rob marciano is in boston where the snow just keeps coming. Reporter yet another big storm barrelling through new england. Theres a little bit of deja vu all over again in this. This would be our fourth major storm in the past three weeks. Reporter adding even more snow to a record snow pack. Snow drifts up to six feet high on top of this warehouse in seabrook New Hampshire, causing its roof to collapse. Thankfully no one was hurt. The deep snow block ing tail pipes and exhaust vents. On the coast of massachusetts, it was snow and wind. Gusts over 70 miles an hour and waves. We are at high tide. On top of that we have a storm surge that is flooding parts of this peninsula. The winds will be the big issue but so this storm will put boston over the seven foot mark. Reporter residents and reporters just have to laugh. Shovel. Right in the neighbors yard. Bad weather is creating a headache for air travelers. 5,000 flights were cancelled or delayed yesterday because of the storm. So far, another 400 have been affected today. Tammy meyers was on her way home from giving her teen daughter a driving lesson when she had a near collision with another car. Police say they exchanged a few heated words and the other driver followed meyers home and shot her. Her family is stunned and heart broken. My son is only 1 year and 2 months. She did survive for a while after the shooting but was taken off of life support over the weekend. The faa is out with its longawaited proposed rules for commercial drone flights. Those flights would have to be during Daylight Hours and drones could only fly up to 500 feet high. Operators would have to take a written test. They would have to keep the drones away from airports and within eyesight. It could take up to three years for those rules to be finalized. Moments before an Alaska Airlines flight was set to take off, a woman on board was with stung bay skorpian. Federal regulators are stepping in to take the sting out of the nations increasingly cluttered unfriendly skies. Not just because of a growing number of airplanes. The faa is now proposing new rules to combat the uptick in the number of drones taking flight. Heres abcs david kerley. Reporter inexpensive drones can take exceptional pictures and are pop ing up everywhere. We have seen these Unmanned Aircraft where they are not supposed to be flying over the white house fence and crashing and close to landing jetliners all across the country. One of the concerns is that even a small drone like this could be sucked in to a jet engine causing catastrophic failure. The rules are aimed at using small drones less than 5 pound5 pounds for utility purposes. Businesses can fly under these proposed rules if they pass a written test for operators who can only fly 500 feet during the day and must keep the aircraft in sight. That last rule is troublesome for some businesses including amazon which wants to use drones to deliver goods. Drones that would go off on their own, out of sight. The displooiz pleased online rel retailer says the government must move quickly to address the needs of our business and ultimately our customers. The government has heard such concerns and said the proposed drone rules which could take a year or two to approve are not the last word for this fastflying technology.
