Family fightinging to save their son with the help of social media. Josh hardy beat cancer but is now suffering from a potentially deadly infection. Late last night josh received the experimental drug that his family has been pleading for. It is a drug that could save his life. Abcs steve owe sun sammy has more about how the family got help from thousands of strangers. Reporter had hardys turned to facebook rallying troops to save josh, convincing tens of thousands of americans to lobby the drug maker and even the white house for compassion. One thing i would want to share with america is thank you so much for the love and support. Reporter 7yearold josh hardy beat cancer, then needed a bonemarrow transplant. That transplant compromised his immune system. He is now losing a battle with a virus that threatens his breathing and could ultimately end his life. None of us could fight as hard as he has. Reporter the drug they need is brincidofovir. It it fights the virus. And the firm developing it gave it away long before it was ready to patients who begged and pleaded. But the company says its government assistance ran out in 2012. Since then they have been forced to spend every resource trying to get the drug fda approved. Which means refusing hundreds of requests each year. From the family point of view and little josh, they need the drug. And they dont want to hear about anything else. The beatle wassant duced to america in 1949 and despite the slow start, a few years later, it was one of the most popular cars on the road. Certainly different than the cars most americans were used to. Didnt even have a gas gauge until 1962. That sounds dangerous. It does. During the 60s, the body of the car stayed the same except for the windows. They got bigger. And so did the engine. Perhaps no one em wrased the beatle as the hippies of the 60s.
