they're going to join with nik wallenda in the final hours before the stunt. >> that rainbow's a good omen. beautiful. political news this morning, president obama here in manhattan last night for more fund-raisers. were at sarah jessica parker's house, heard mariah carey play at the plaza. and that was after both candidates gave speeches in ohio. and we're going to look at the show so many people love, hgtv's program "house hunters." it's coming under fire for not being as real as we all think. take a look at central park right now. crowd coming out for the beach boys. we're going to have a fantastic party in the park. they're going to play some of their classics. some of their new songs, as well. >> lifeguards. the party is under way. we'll be going over there shortly. you never know what you're going to see, folks. we begin with the relentless deadly wildfires out west, that have scorched more than 52,000 acres in colorado and are far from being contained. more homeowners are being ordered to flee. abc's ginger zee is on the fire line in bellevue, colorado, this morning. ginger? >> this is the third-largest wildfire in colorado state history. 52,000 acres and counting. scrambling to control the raging high park fire, emergency crews are following the raging inferno as it spreads. high winds and low humidity, like rocket fuel for the wildfire to grow. >> shortly before 5:00, the fire jumped highway 14 in the canyon, causing a spot fire. >> reporter: immediate evacuations. ten more acres destroyed, in addition to the 52,000 already devastated by the out-of-control fire. >> our biggest concern has remained the refusals to evacuate. >> we are just exhausted. >> reporter: one of the firefighters' biggest concern, trees killed by this tiny insect, the pine beetle. this bug has killed 70% of the pine trees, leaving wood and needles on the ground, leaving kindling for the fire to spread. creating more hazards and more problems. this is a good example of how dry everything is out here. the firefighters call this perfect fuel for the fire. as we go into the weekend, isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast. you think that's great. rain. unfortunately, they'll not bring a whole lot of rain. but they will bring lightning. if you remember, lightning is what started this fire. robin? >> thanks. president obama and mitt romney gave dueling speeches in ohio yesterday, just before the president headed to new york city for a star-studded fund-raiser. it's "your voice, your vote" with abc's jon karl. good morning, jon. >> reporter: good morning, george. the president called on big-name celebrities last night to give his campaign a much-needed financial boost. while he and mitt romney clashed over how to give a boost to the economy. call it prez in the city, at the home of sarah jessica parker. aretha franklin was there, shelly winter. all giving $40,000 a dinner. we talked to the queen of soul herself. >> it was fabulous, beautifully organized. it was a garden party. a lot of beautiful people there. >> reporter: and the a-list evening didn't end there. the president and the first lady went on to an event at the plaza hotel, where mariah carey provided the entertainment. altogether last night, the obama campaign raked in more than $4.5 million. but overnight in chicago, mitt romney with less glitz and no celebrities, raised $3.5 million, to help pay for ads like this, his first negative ad of the general election. >> the private sector's doing fine. >> reporter: the ad, almost a direct copy of one obama ran in the last campaign against john mccain. >> the fundamentals of our economy are strong. >> reporter: in cleveland on thursday, the president made his biggest speech of the campaign so far. accusing romney of pushing tax cuts for the wealthy, at the expense of everybody else. >> governor romney disagrees with my vision. his allies in congress disagree with my vision. neither of them will endorse any policy that adds to the wealthiest americans to pay a nickel more in taxes. >> reporter: across the street in cincinnati, romney made a counter strike. >> president obama is on the other side of the state. and he's going to be delivering a speech on the economy. he's doing that because he hasn't delivered a recovery for the economy. >> reporter: later today, romney launches the first big campaign swing of the general election. a bus tour that starts in new hampshire today and then goes on to pennsylvania and right through the battleground states of the middle west, including, 110 years in prison for bilking investors out of $7 billion in one of the biggest ponzi schemes in american history. stanford refused to say he was sorry. and blamed the federal government for taking over his businesses and taking his investors' money. prosecutors have finished calling to the stand eight young men that said that jerry sandusky assaulted them. another witness said he spent 100 nights sleeping in the sandusky basement, screaming for help but to no avail. in oregon, rescue teams have recovered the body of an experienced climber who fell more than 1,000 feet to his death. he's the fourth person killed on mt. hood this year alone. 56-year-old mark cartier was a highly-experienced, well-known climber. it's unclear exactly what caused the accident. and a federal jury in new orleans has sided with kevin costner over stephen baldwin in a lawsuit stemming from the gulf oil spill. baldwin claimed he was duped into selling his stake into costner's oil cleanup company before the company signed a $50 billion contract with bp, a deal he claims costner kept secret from him. but the jury took less than two hours to decide costner didn't owe baldwin anything. and it's the kind of moment kevin durant lives for. late fourth quarter in the nba finals, game two. and the thunder, rallying back. finally get a chance to tie the heat. and durant misses from eight feet out. and, folks, that was it. the heat held on 100-96. >> there's no foul there. they say he was fouled. >> there was no foul there, according to robin roberts. it's now even, the series is, a game apiece. game 1-1. we're back in the game. it's going to be a great series. now to the nationwide manhunt, of the trauma surgeon who is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend at a buffalo hospital. they are painting a picture of the suspect as a man who may have been on the edge. abc's john schriffen has the story. >> reporter: buffalo police say they have expanded the search for dr. timothy jorden nationwide. but they say they have few clues where he may be headed. or how he slipped past hundreds of people at the complex wednesday, after allegedly gunning down his ex-girlfriend. >> we don't know what he's driving at this point. >> reporter: police have hunted down jorden's four cars and have searched his home. but they don't know what may have caused him to snap. >> we're using all our resources available. >> reporter: late thursday, investigators were careful to describe jorden as a person of interest in the shooting death of 33-year-old jackie wisniewski, saying they only wanted to talk to him about his involvement. still, police have confirmed, the two were dating. and they have recovered evidence from cameras at the hospital, where she was shot. while jorden was not a registered gun owner, and police are not sure where he may have gotten the alleged murder weapon, they are careful to say he may still be carrying a gun. >> it was not a random act. but he should be considered armed and dangerous at this point. >> are there other targets out there? >> can't comment on that. >> reporter: jorden is a one-time army medic, who trained with u.s. special forces. but lately, co-workers say he had lost more than 70 pounds, grown a beard and begun to act withdrawn. betty jean grant says that doesn't sound like the man she's known since he was 14 years old. >> he was very intelligent. and he was a quiet, reserved individual. >> reporter: but this morning, police fear jorden may be using the traits that made him a great surgeon and soldier to remain a fugitive. >> he's still on the loose. our thanks to john schriffen, reporting from buffalo. now, to the new charges against lance armstrong. the superstar cyclist is fighting back against the allegations that could cost him all his titles and the millions he made from them. this morning, armstrong has remained in france to try to compete in an ironman competition there, as his lawyers mount his defense here at home. abc's neal karlinsky talked to them. >> reporter: in the span of less than a week, lance armstrong went from heroic athlete and cancer warrior, to an accused drug cheat, facing embarrassing headlines, the possible loss of his tour de france titles and a ban from competing in the sport he loves. this morning, he's fighting back. >> lance is a competitor. and he's never short from a fight. and the only thing we're trying to figure out is whether or not this is going to be a fair fight. >> reporter: robert luskin is just one member of a team of high-priced, highly-connected lawyers, digging in for an all-out fight to clear armstrong once and for all. in the u.s. anti-doping agency's letter to armstrong, officials lay out damaging allegations. and promises of testimony from at least ten other cyclists who will say, under oath, he used drugs to win. >> they went to these riders like don corleone and gave him an offer they couldn't refuse. >> reporter: armstrong's legal team calls him one of the most tested athletes ever. passing over 500 tests and never failing. but the u.s. anti-doping agency shows a total of 59 drug tests for armstrong since 2001. there were many more tests done in europe. but those have not been made public. and now, usada officials say they've turned up samples from 2009 and 2010, that appear to show doping. >> the bottom line is, if those tests had ever been positive, we wouldn't be talking about whether or not he wanted to release them. they would have been released. and he would have been disciplined. >> reporter: this morning, the battle lines are drawn, as an athlete famous for beating cancer, is now fighting to clear his name. for "good morning america," neal karlinsky, abc news, seattle. we're going to turn, now, to a new twist in that story we first told you about on thursday. the teen boy known as forest boy, who claims he spent years living in the woods. well, he has been identified. and abc's nick watt joins us from london with the latest on this. good morning, nick. >> reporter: good morning, robin. well, german police have spent the last nine months trying to solve this mystery. they launched a worldwide investigation to find forest boy's true identity. he said his name was ray and that he had little memory of his past life. his life before he spent five years in the woods. an extraordinary tale of survival. forest boy claimed he fled to the woods with his dad five years after after his mom was killed in a car wreck. he claims his dad died last summer. so he walked back to civilization. forest boy this morning, unmasked. he's called robin van helsum. he's 20 years old. he's dutch. he was identified by friends who saw that photo, the exasperated german police released to the world this week. his stepmother has confirmed forest boy is alive. he went missing just last fall, a few days before he showed up at berlin town hall with a dose of amnesia and his scarcely believable tale. but as we reported yesterday, his tent and sleeping bag were suspiciously clean for a guy who spent years in the wild. >> no pot. no knife. no way to make fire. no rifle. no ammunition. the skill level it would take to pull that off would probably even eclipse my own. >> reporter: police say he is not mentally ill. and perhaps just wants to start a new life. a clean slate. friends say, he was getting into trouble back home and wanted to get out of the country. this is no joke anymore, said the berlin police spokesman. he made right fools of up. but forest boy might have to pick up the tab for nine months of care and a nine-month wild goose chase to find the truth. and there is a final, tragic twist to this tale. forest boy's real father actually died earlier this year of natural causes. and his son had no idea. police tell us they have just broken that tragic news. >> sad, all the way around. nick, thank you. now, we have an incredible act of valor caught on tape at a texas toll booth. a woman saved from her burning car by a total stranger. abc's paula faris has the story. >> reporter: this dramatic video shows what almost certainly would have been the final moments of nancy decker's life. >> i shouldn't be here. >> reporter: decker lost control of her car at this houston toll booth. it flipped and then burst into flames. other drivers watched helplessly as the fire engulfed the car. but look closely. out of nowhere, a man with a fire extinguisher climbs on to the car, risking his life. he smashes out decker's window. you can see him pulling her out by her arms to safety, with seconds to spare. but almost immediately, he disappears. for weeks, the man's identity, a mystery. but overnight, ktrk tracked down this good samaritan. >> i saw a lady screaming. she's still in there. >> reporter: mitchell corbin, a member of the texas air national guard said he was driving by when he saw the fire. >> figured out there was a big problem going on. and took the steps to fix it. >> reporter: corbin said he never wanted any recognition. >> i was just happy that everything turned out already and everyone's safe. >> reporter: but this morning, because of his selfless act, decker is back at home with her family, alive and grateful. >> i should be home. i should have multiple injuries. he is my guardian angel. he really is. >> reporter: for "good morning america," paula faris, abc is it staged? we're going to hear from one participant who says it is. and fans -- we're just up in arms. >> a whole new controversy. and we're going to begin with the brawl between two of music's biggest stars, chris brown and drake, with their bodyguards, trapped in a fight thursday morning, in a fight that seems to be inspired by rihanna. dan harris is here with the story. >> reporter: this is not what chris brown needs now. he's still on probation for beating his ex-girlfriend, rihanna. and now, reportedly getting in a fight over here, a bar brawl, that police are actively investigating right now. chris brown, hyped up and shirtless, in this video posted on youtube, from outside a nightclub in lower manhattan early thursday morning. it all reportedly started when brown sent a bottle of champagne to drake and his 15-member entourage. ♪ it's my birthday >> reporter: these two apparently have something other than music in common. drake briefly dated brown's ex, rihanna, after the couple broke up in 2009. recently, rihanna had been spotted with both of them. according to witnesses thursday, drake sent the champagne back to brown with a note. that apparently set it off. this youtube video shows bottles and ice flying through the air. after the incident, brown tweeted out this picture of a gash on his chin. and tweeted, lol, throwing bottles like girls. shame on you. five people were injured, inbruding one of brown's own bodyguards, seen here in the hospital. and this australian tourist ended up with 16 stitches. both singers deny starting the fight. brown's rep released a statement saying, chris and his friends were victims of a brutal attack last night. they sustained several injuries. drake's team is also denying involvement. saying drake did not participate in wrongdoing of any kind. he was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. this is not chris brown's first brush with violence. he is still on probation after pleading guilty to beating his girlfriend, rihanna, before the grammys in 2009. she talked about it with diane sawyer. >> he had no look in his eyes. >> there's going to become a moment when people go, we've had enough. >> reporter: worth noting that neither chris brown nor drake was at the scene when the police arrived. and neither side has been charged. brown's spokespeople said he was interviewed by the police, as a victim but not a perpetrator. >> a lot of questions out there. thank you, dan harris. what happens when reality tv is not so real? that's what fans of the runaway hit hgtv's "house hunters" are asking. a guest is coming forward. and claiming that what most fans like best about the show is fake. amy robach has the story. >> reporter: i know. it is a wildly popular reality show that may not be as real as some of its viewers believe. but then again, others ask, how could a 30-minute program make a long and tedious process like buying a home short, sweet and interesting? if there wasn't a little production in play. >> it was kind of a weird layout. >> reporter: hgtv's "house hunters" takes viewers through three different houses, a quick guessing game which they will choose. and a half an hour later, we see which they pick and move in. >> it feels like home. >> reporter: how realistic is this reality show that viewers tune into every week? >> there's no way this could followen in. >> reporter: bobi jensen and her husband, casey, were featured on the show in 2006. >> i'm excited to look at a one-story. >> reporter: recently, jensen blogged about her behind-the-scenes experience. not realizing the uproar it would create. the couple bought their new home before shooting, which she says is just how the show likes it. >> we were rounded up to look at houses. it was our responsibility to find the houses. >> reporter: jensen says they asked friends to let them use their home, which they weren't even selling. hgtv programming executive brian says not to use homes was a unique decision, one the show didn't make. >> her husband was the real estate agent. and in the vast majority of episodes, they have another agent. they made the decision to show their friends' homes because they couldn't find one. >> reporter: fans of "house hunters" have reacted strongly to jensen's blog. posting replies like, wow. you always think these shows are fairly staged. but not that much. and since it's so fake, i will no longer tape it or watch it. what do you say to people who say, i'm never watching the show again? it's fake. >> they should keep watching because you're watching real people find the real home of their dreams. >> it's all about, having a space for my family. and we love it. >> reporter: when i spoke with bobi jensen yesterday, she says she feels terrible if she stopped anyone from watching the show. regardless of how it's produced, she thinks the real enjoyment comes from getting the sneak peek in other homes and which the family buys. >> i can't believe people are shocked about reality tv not being real. they're all scripted. we kind of know to a certain extent. but as one tweeter said, to go back that far. >> pulling back the curtain is rarely pretty. >> true. have a great weekend, amy. >> thank you. time for the weather. let's go back to sam. you know where he is. he's got a big smile on his face. that rainbow is still there at niagara falls. sam?
