And we also know that many of those passengers were on that train for about an hour. So it appears now from this report that the ntsb essentially knew what the trouble began but they dont know why. Theyre looking to a number of things. Was there damage somehow to that third rail . Was there a surge in electricity . Did something hit that rail . Right now, they dont know. Typically, the ntsb investigation can take quite a lodge time. They say theyre going through all the maintenance records and training records. This project is already into its 12th year and the d. C. Taxpayer has already put in 123 million into it. They are practicing and passengers are not allowed to ride them. There have been signs on h street here that says d. C. Streetcar coming soon. And we found out today, from ddot it doesnt even have an estimation for what the word soon really means. I expect delays in most everything. But thats policy in the district of columbia. People who live and work along h street in northeast d. C. Are not surprised. We were expecting it to be working a long time ago already. And its still not done. After bng told by former mayor vincent gray the streetcar would finally be opened next week residents learned today it will not. Oh, theres another delay. No big surprise. Youd think wed probably be more surprised when it actually does start coming. Got a mandate from mayor bowser to get it right. Thats what im focused on. This is the acting director of ddot and he says the project has been further delayed because it cant get the proper safety certifications. Though he wouldnt say which specific ones. He also said the project is suffering from poor leadership that has to be adjusted. And a bad Business Model that needs to be overhauled. And all of that will take more time. My emphasis would be on getting a gos opposed to a bad start. And right now, the the pieces are not in place to achieve a good start. We did reach out to mayor bowser who said she does support this project. She wants to see these signs come down so its no longer coming soon and actually carrying passengers. A maryland woman pleaded guilty today to killing two children while performing what she called an exorcism. She wont serve time in prison. As part of a plea deal 22yearold Monifa Sanford of germantown was found not criminally responsible for the crime. Shell be committed to a psychiatric hospital. Sanford and the 28yearold Zakieya Avery are charged with stabbing two of averys children to death last year. They were also indicted in the attempted murders of averys two other children. Women told detectives the children were possessed and they were performing exorcisms. Averys case is still pending. Maryland governor Martin Omalley leaves office on wednesday.
