He was found about 24 hours ago near temple hills, maryland. Police have more information, and Autria Godfrey has more. Prince georges county police in this press conference did confirm what his family had been saying all along that he was murdered over a pair of shoes that he was carrying. He was walking along 28th avenue just around 4 00 p. M. , and he was carrying a bag with some boots inside for his girlfriend. Police say he was targeted for the shoes. This is beside the fact that the boots were still there when Police Arrived after getting the 911 call. That is something we try to get sorted out, and here is what the police chief had to say about that. We believe there was a confrontation, and robbery demand was made. And he was shot. The bags stayed on the scene. We believe that they did not go through the bag and decided that those were not the issues they wanted. We believe they never got that far. A big part of the press conference is that walkers death is a part of a bigger problem. He is the fifth student to be killed since the start of the school year back in the fall and that was a question we had for the police chief. Some good news, they expect to have arrests by the end of next week in four of those five cases. Autria godfrey abc 7 news. Thank you. We also have breaking news in the chandra levy murder case. His convicted killer ingmar guandique, plans to ask for a new trial. There was a previously closed hearing. And they have been going over the extensive and long records from the hearing. We have more with tom in the newsroom on what those records reveal. Hundreds of pages of documents were released involving the man accused of killing chandra levy. It is believed that a key witness in the trial lawyer and that new information contradicts what that witness said at the trial. New documents unsealed today said that about one year ago, prosecutors found out information that called into question the reliability of a witness that was used to convict ingmar guandique. It was all of the way back in 2001 when intern chandra levy went missing and her remains were later found in rock creek park. She was allegedly in a relationship with gary condit. Many initially thought that he was involved in her disappearance, but the illegal immigrant from el salvador was convicted of killing her and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Prosecutors want information about the allegedly tainted trial witness kept sealed it is that the dangerous situation confronting this witness merited shielding the proceeding from public view, but the defense says that the risks identified are only vague. They now believe those risks of a ride the ability to probe into the integrity of the trial. We do not know what litten it what witness lied or what they like about. This is completely blacked out. Right now, the judge agreeing with the prosecution to keep that witness secret. The last hearing was this past thursday. The transcript from that was not released. That was from an earlier hearing. We are just nine days away from the start of sequestration. People in this area could be among the hardest hit if sequestration happens. Firefighters First Responders were invited to the white house, and we talked to a few firefighters who were very concerned that the budget cuts would hurt those who do their jobs. They were invited to be part of a group of First Responders, including others, for a speech as part of the issue of sequestration. These cuts are not smart. They are not fair. And the owners of the farmers say the School System has taken steps to force them off of county land, while the School System has a different story. Pictures taken earlier show pictures with locks. A father has been farming the land for decades but he and others have recently been embroiled with the board of education over a plan to turn the 20acre farm land into soccer fields. There is pending litigation. It will be decided whether or not the board of education went through the right process when it comes to leasing the land. They locked only two of tem to still and to the farm. They say that allows them to remove their equipment. There is no use for the property. It is said but they find it odd that the move comes days after a letter was circulating from Montgomery County delegates and senators talking about keeping the land as a farm. The change in locks only happened after security personnel was inspecting the property and that they had lots that did not belong to the district so they removed the locks and put on new ones.
