What are you hearing out there . Stephen we expect about three inches here tomorrow. Even more further west but right now, it feels like spring and the idea of more Winter Weather on the way has a lot of people here worn out. Life goes on as usual in leesburg even though another winlter storm looms on the horizon. Im a little tired of it. Yeah. As many as three inches are expected to the west mefttro area. Not a fan at all. Stephen some people are crossing their fingers and hoping this is winters last gasp. The flakes are expected to start falling along with the much anticipated arrival of spring. Not looking forward to it. But i think its going to melt right away. Thats what my hope is and the sun is going to come out and spring will be here. Stephen yeah. But tomorrow, we do expect to see snow here on this area, on these grassy areas and in the streets. Perhaps, some snow but the transportation officials with whom we spoke out here say that dont expect the pavement to be cold enough for there to be any major problems. And i do have to tell you about two or three minutes ago a woman came up to me and asked me if the snow meant spring would start later than usual . Thats not how it works. Here you have an 87yearold man who police say shot his long time wife and adult son in the home behind me. Today, deputies found 86yearold caroline green and her adult son mark shot dead in a bedroom. In the basement, 87yearold johnny green also dead. A handgun by his side. Johnny shot all of them and himself, too. Kevin the neighbor said the greens hit hard times. Doctors recently diagnosed johnny with colon cancer. Caroline was already battling dimentia and their adult son mark was intellectually challenged. Hopelessness, police say, the likely motive. Im 89. So it dont set very well. Because i dont think he should do that. Take somebody elses life like that. All three individuals suffered gunshot wounds to the head. Kevin despite the tragedy, police say the greens were upstanding citizens. Today, in fact, the first and only time deputies have responded to their home. In Washington County for the most part when you get into the smaller communities, Everybody Knows everyone. So when you have incidents take place, its hard to deal with. You can call in with your leon the white house was just one of the stops for the royal couple on a busy last day in washington when prince of wales and duchess of cornwall met with the president and the Vice President this afternoon. Alison thats right. Brianne carter is live at the National Museum of women in the arts with more on this royal visit. Hi, brianne. Brianne alison, it has been the talk of the town all across the area. People are asking where are they going to be and when . Today, a group of women that got invited to an event inside this museum not only got the chance to see royalty but meet her. The royal couple hit the ground running on day two of this d. C. Visit. Prince charles and his wife camilla started the day touring the Lincoln Cottage before splitting their day. Prince charles spent the middle of the day at Carlos Rosario Charter School while the duchess of cornwall toured the department of forensic sciences. Brianne the duchess is the president of wow or women of the world festival. A global event they plan to bring to washington that empowers women and girls. Today, the duchess met with many women. Brianne well, speaking of the president and the first lady, prior to this event here, thats exactly where they were having that meeting there at the white house. This tour here in the u. S. Will wrap up tomorrow in kentucky. Reporting live, brianne carter, abc 7 news. Leon thanks, brianne. Good day to be out and about. Alison really nice today. If we can get to saturday, that will be nice, too. Tomorrow is interesting. Doug tomorrow is going to be nasty. Rain and snow. It will be cold. But it will get better as early as saturday. Lets get a look at things around the area right now. Live look from the camera across the tidal basin. Right hand side of the screen. Jefferson memorial. No signs of blossoms yet as weve been reporting. 23 days away from seeing the blooms here. Hopefully by then, a much warmer weather pattern overhead. Im making no promises based on the crazy weather that weve had. Yesterday, we were in the high range for tree pollen and today its backed off the moderate range. 52 with a high overcast at reagan national. Its very dry. Dew point at 20 degrees. When you join steve rudin later tonight, in some areas, youll see rain very close to us in the area but probably will be evaporating before it hits the ground because the air is still so dry. By early tomorrow morning, different story. Look at the presnow temperatures. Upper 40s to lower 50s. Those temperatures will fall but the fact that weve been so far above freezing will help the ground temperatures stay warmer. So thats why we expect the snow that falls in most of the metro area to melt on contact. No bitterly cold air supply. If we had temperatures in the Single Digits and teens to the north, that will be some cold air to tap for this storm. Thats not going to happen. It will be very, very marginal with no bitterly cold air. For the moment, most of the rain is pushing from the east to the southeast. But as the Storms Center starts getting closer, then the areas of precipitation will get closer. That wont happen until 4 00 or 5 00 in morning. Winter weather advisory is posted upper Montgomery County. Upper loudoun county, northern faquier county. North and west, winter storm warnings in the pink areas and the mountainous and Higher Elevations. So our simulation from this futurecast computer model suggesting this will be the breakdown at 6 00 a. M. With the rain moving into the eastern suburbs. Snow is getting into the metro area. That pattern continuing for several hours during the rush. By late morning, most of the snow will be north of washington. Everybody else gets rain and during the balance of the afternoon, the snow areas kick out to the east. All of whats left over in the metro area will be rain and that quickly will end as we head through the Late Afternoon and early evening hours. Of course, everybody wants to know how much . And this is what we think how much, maybe up to an inch of grassy area accumulations with roadways remaining wet throughout the rush hour and really through the day. Farther south you go, may see no flakes, just rain. Farther north and west as described, maybe a couple of inches on grassy areas. In the winter storm warning area, three to six inches a good bet at Higher Elevations and thats enough snow to cause disruptions to travel. Our timeline here begins around 5 00 a. M. Snow and then it mixes with rain. Eventually changes to rain and then comes to an end late in the day but the worst part of this is highs only 40 degrees. We will indeed make a nice turn around here for the day on saturday. Take a look. 59 degrees with partly cloudy skies on saturday. Turn a bit cooler by sunday in the upper 40s. Clouds on sunday. Sunshine and clouds, mid 40s on tuesday. Warm front goes through. Maybe get ourselves back in the mid to upper 50s by wednesday and thursday of next week. Well see. Will this be the last time we talk about snow this winter . We will find out. Leon go out on that limb again . Doug no, im not walking on that tightrope. Alison ok. Thank you. Doug all right. Alison how about this story . A simple bus ride gone viral. But it wasnt a person who made the trip. It was this little guy. Police in houston say a man turned over the dog after it rode a bus by itself for more than 20 miles and then got off in the middle of downtown. He said he had boarded the 44 just like any other patron. I knew he belonged to somebody. Friendly little guy. Alison the vet said the dog is a little thin, a lot dirty and nursing a sore ear. Otherwise, doing just fine. Theyre reaching out over social media to try to reunite him with his family. Cute. Leon all right. 7 on your side tonight to get you some results. Reporter her remains were found in these dense woods. Three years later, a day of anguish for a maryland family when their leon back now on storm watch as we track what we hope is the last gasp of winter heading towards our area. Alison heres hoping. Meteorologist steve rudin joins us with a check of the Winter Weather alert. Hi, steve. Steve i hope this is the last gasp. We have to get through tomorrow morning and after that, things will improve rather quickly around here. Look at all the moisture to the south and west of us. This slowly moves our way as we move through the overnight hours. Thats why the National Weather service has posted a winter storm warning. You can see on the maps, areas shaded in pink that include morgan and Washington Counties and then that Winter Weather advisory for frederick and northern Montgomery County starts early, early tomorrow morning. Extends through 2 00 in the afternoon and i wouldnt be surprised if we possibly see a couple more counties added to the advisory area as we move through the overnight hours. This is what it looks like in terms of what we have with the futurecast. Notice how the rain and snow begins to arrive early early friday morning. We will see that switch over to all rain around the capital beltway by the late Morning Hours and into early afternoon and by the time we drive home tomorrow afternoon, pick the kids up, everything will be pretty much done from west to east. Clouds will stick around for a little while. We expect anywhere from about an inch coating around the beltway. That may be optimistic at this point. However, the further north and west you go, especially the Higher Elevations, western maryland were talking three to six inches of snow. As close as northern Montgomery County into southern frederick county, possibly one to three inches. Doug hill back in a few minutes. Alison thank you very much, steve. New at 5 00 tonight, heartbreaking words from the family of a Prince Georges County woman whose remains were discovered in a maryland state park in early 2012. Today, Charles County police announced a murder indictment against a man accused of killing 29yearold crystal anderson in what began as a missing persons case. Richard reeve is live in the state park here la plata with the details. Rich . Rich yeah, very thickly wooded here. It just so happened that a hiker found those remains three years later. Detectives would finally close this case with the help of new witness information. Theres a hole thats left in my heart rich Angela Anderson tried to maintain her composure as she spoke about her daughter crystal missing and then found murdered. For months, i searched for my child. And i couldnt find her. Rich family members thought anderson was dropped off at a forestville gas station in july 2011. Witnesses would much later find witnesses that would see here at a party with this man 2shgs 2yearold raymond posy. Last able to determine they were together at a party and last seen leaving that party together. Rich until january 2012, there was no trace of anderson until a hiker here at purse state park outside of la plata found skel cal remains. Tests would prove they were the young womans. You have our heartfelt condolences and we are praying for you. Rich police say new witness information and the recovery of andersons property led them to posy. Court documents say a handgun was the murder weapon. Posy assaulted her then robbed her of cash and drugs before killing her. Hes robbed me of 10, 20, 30 and 40 years of being with my daughter rich so much heartbreak for that family. Police called this a bittersweet day. Posy is now in state prison on an unrelated robbery charge. He faces a Court Hearing in april. Reporting live, richard reeve, abc 7 news. Alison thank you, rich. We go to some breaking news right now. Coming to us out of gaithersburg where a car, as you can see here, has crashed into the westwood Shopping Center. No one in the Shopping Center was injured were told. The driver was not injured either if you can believe it. But this car hit the rite aid there were told. So no word yet on what caused this. This is still developing and we will bring you the latest details as soon as we have them. Amazing no one was hurt as far as we know so far. Leon that car is in aisle three. Check this out, a colorado woman is facing attempted murder and other charges after she allegedly stabbed a pregnant woman and cut her baby from her womb police say the victim had answered a craigs list ad offering baby clothes for sale. That woman who was seven months pregnant at the time is expected to survive. Police arrested the suspect after she showed up at a hospital with a dead baby claiming that she had had a miscarriage. And the man accused of killing one person and shooting five others near phoenix was in court this morning. Police believe ryan gireaus rampage started at a hotel in mesa mesa. The 41yearold is being held tonight. Leon a nasty neighbor is outraging people across the country. Ashley brady had a special parking spot installed after she had an accident that left her without a leg. You saw her walking there. Someone parked in her spot and brady left her a note. She came back to the car a while letter and she found a letter waiting for her. What it said appalled her. It says hey handicapped. First, never place your hands on my car again. Second, if you touch my property, i will cause trouble so cry your struggles to someone who cares because im walking away with both mine. Leon that is pretty low brady received a huge outpouring of support on line and has since reported this letter to the police. Shes meeting with the apartment complex manager now to figure out her next course of action. Alison well, you can forget the 40hour work week. A new study finds that once you factor in how much time you actually spend sitting in traffic, americans are spending an average of four hours and 11 minutes in the car. Just to get to and from work the survey of u. S. Census data puts our area third on the list of the longest work weeks at 48 1 3 hours. San francisco second at about 48 1 2 hours. And new york is first with more than just 49 hours spent at work and commuting combined. So speaking of commuting, lets go out and see how the roads are looking tonight. Bob is in the wtop traffic center. Hi there. Bob hi, alison. Today is no exception. On 270 northbound, quite a slow road most of the way headed through Montgomery Village in germantown, they were checking for a crash southbound in Montgomery Village. I dont think they found anything yet. Volume delays headed north so far. Things are going to slow on 66 out to the west as you move out from the beltway off and on out to centreville and off and on, pretty heavy out there and beyond that, the pace is good getting into haymarket. Hasnt been a bad drive. 1 15 minute drive coming up the 11th street bridge. Not bad for a rush hour. You have some volume delays as well. Lets take a look at the beltway here at river road both directions. There was a crash on the inner loop before river road. Thats gone now. Lanes are open. But now, all that traffic has moved up towards 270 and traffic on 395 south of the pentagon slows the entire trip to landmark and you should find the lanes open there as well. Im bob emler with 103. 5 wtop radio. Alison ok, bob. Do you know that i happened to be sitting with two of the handsomest broadcasters in d. C. The grooming lounge is holding a contest on line to pick d. C. s handsomest broadcasters. And abc 7s leon harris and scott thuman are in the running, folks. So theres a competition here. But we know who is going to win. One of the two, right . Leon they could have picked some more current photos. I think both of those photos are about 10 years and 20 pounds ago . Scott lets be honest, i think the only reason we made the list, made the cut they need some facial hair representation on that panel. All we got going for us. Leon that pretty much is it. You actually use their products. Scott i do, i do. Maybe they looked at the mailing list and said put that guy on the list. Alison youre both well groomed. Maybe that was one of the things they were looking at. Leon it helps where in my house, you shave using the tears of Cleveland Browns fans. Scott right. Softer. Alison cant scott theyre voting in droves now. Alison cant stand all the handsomeness up here. Vote for one of these two on our link at wjla. Com. Leon id vote for thuman. Scott well trade votes. Complex is best known, of course, as the site of the 1972 breakin at the Democratic National headquarters and subsequent coverup that led to president nixons resignation. Leon . Leon today marks 80 years since people first started playing monopoly. The board game hit stores on march 19, 1935. An estimated one billion people have bought up property, utilitys and railroads on the board based on Atlantic City new jersey over the years. You know that city and the boardwalk have changed a lot in 80 years so exactly what would the board look like today if it was remade in this version here currently . Well, the most expensive spot on the board would be the borgata hotel. That took in twice as much as its closest competitor. Harrahs would probably get an adjacent space in the high rent district there and the Golden Nugget would likely cap off that trio in the citys marina district. Boardwalk has five operating casinos today but plenty of cotton candy, pizza and funnel cakes to go around. Pacific avenue would fall out of the high rent district there. Hasbro is releasing, by the way, a new u. S. Cities version of the game this fall after more than four million votes on line about what should be in it. Pierre, south dakota will be serving as the new boardwalk and minneapolis, minnesota will hold the park place square. Alison . Alison interesting. All right, leon. Horace not just in her apartment, she says, but throughout her northwest d. C. Building. Green was the president of her buildings tenant association. She says she asked for but got little help from the company that manages their building. Exterminators came but didnt follow up, she says, and the bug problem got worse. Thats when she decided to stop paying rent until the problems were adequately addressed. Tenant advocate Phillip Kennedy is working with the residents of the building. Nobody is asking for them to come in and, you know, completely rehab the building. Its really the normal stuff but has drastic consequences for peoples quality of life. More heat on the secret service. This time about deleted videotapes from the night that the two agents allegedly drove through a crime scene after a night of drinking. The directors explanation that raises new questions about that. Coming your way tonight at 6 00 right here. Alison . Alison we certainly felt the chill this winter. It turns out not much of the rest of the world did. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the past winter was the warmest on record all around the world. The northeastern u. S. , of course, really the only place that it was very cold. Global temperature records date back to 1880. Leon were about to have a little bit of cold once again. We thought we were done with winter but not so fast. Alison getting ready for another winter blast. Doug i dont think the metro area will see a whole lot impact. What we see in the snow scan is the rain in the carolinas moving away from us. Its the rain over louisville lexington. That will move overhead probably at 4 00 or 5 00 in the morning. Winter weather advisories from just before dawn until 2 00 p. M. , small area in pink are winter storm warnings. Higher elevations are likely to have more cold air and more accumulations. Again, as we look at timing on our futurecast, about 5 00 to 6 00 a. M. , areas in blue represent areas that may be snow. This is just a simulation. This doesnt mean its exactly whats going to happen but the trend is there. The snow will push north of the metro area late morning turning to rain and eventually ending during the afternoon hours with clearing skies developing for the day on saturday. As far as the amounts, were thinking maybe an inch in grassy area accumulations and the gray area. One to three at max in spots. And grassy areas north and west of downtown washington, metro area and then the darker blue area. Thats where i think the jackpot could be with higher accumulations so well get through it fine. Rush hour, i think will be wet even though snow will be falling in the metro area changing to all rain before it ends and then brightening up considerably on saturday. Cooler on sunday. Near 60 on saturday. Cooler sunday. Sunshine, temperatures just a bit below average for early next week. That is the latest. Leon . Leon thanks, doug. One more note for you. Be sure to wake up early with the good morning Washington Team tomorrow. Well be here monitoring the roads and latest on delays and closings all starting early at 4 00 a. M. Right here.
