Officers arrested a 16yearold when they arrived. The teacher was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and not yet clear what sparked that incident. The university of South Carolina was on lockdown this afternoon after an apparent murder suicide on campus. Initially, students were warned of a possible active shooter. Police discovered the two bodies a short time later at the school of public health. Police now call the shooting an isolated incident. No word on the identity of those involved. Alison . An Army Veterans threat against his wife landed him behind bars. Hes accused of plotting to shoot people at the u. S. Capitol. Hes being held without bail tonight and abc 7s Richard Reeve spoke to people who know this couple and hes live outside of the capitol now. Rich . Yeah alison, they tell only part of this story at the center of this a retired army sergeant. He was in iraq and afghanistan, served nine years in the army. He admitted to Police Investigators that he had ptsd and as you said, hes accused of making threats against his wife and others here at the capitol. It was a series of violent domestic threats that the u. S. Capital police on high alert on monday. 33yearold michael bogaslovsky is accused of sending texts and a call to his wife. Senate staffer allegedly threatening to shoot her and other capital employees. I was surprised. Seemed to be a nice guy. This neighbor is among those shocked by the allegations. According to a Court Affidavit he texted his wife he had a gun in each hand. But someone was going to be grieving for their family members today. Im coming to shooting anyone in my expletive way. And by phone, im going to die suicide by cop. Police alerted by authorities apprehended him as he was going into his house. And again monday night. And just couldnt figure out what was going on. Didnt look good. Documents say he told Capital Police and the f. B. I. That he had ptsd and was having issues sleeping and feeling frustrated adjusting to civilian life. Weeks they found two handguns and ammunition in his house. They got married recently. Ive seen them around jogging and running with his dogs. Had no idea that Something Like that would happen. Now, just last year, maryland lawmakers passed a measure making threats of Mass Violence a felony. That allowed Police Investigators to go inside that house and seize those guns. Council is Holding Hearings as we speak into the events of january 12th so the basic question is the metro system safe and are actions being taken to make sure what happened then does not happen again. In that Lenfant Plaza incident. Officials from d. C. Fire fire unions and metro are among those at the hearing of ntsb and at the hearing, ntsb which was not there had a letter read saying that participants are not to discuss anything thats not already been disclosed. Even so Council Members had many questions particularly for the head of the fire union ed smith who cited radio problems generally as making the rescue effort more difficult. Yet, firefighters learned in that incident that firefighters worked hard once they learned they were actually stuck in that tunnel. With the lack of radio and communications, that lieutenant made a judgment call to really go and make the rescues. Being unaware of the real power status. I woke up this morning to an email from anthem. Nicola parker is trying to figure out what a massive data breach at her Health Insurer means to her. I didnt think this could happen. Now that it has im shocked and upset and worried about what it could mean for myself. This 27yearold Communications Specialist is not alone. The breach at the indianapolis based company may have compromised the personal information of 80 million people. Everything from names to birth dates to email addresses. Social security numbers, incomes and home addresses may have been accessed. On capitol hill today, senator Richard Blumenthal took aim at the insurer. It is not only breath taking but mind bending in its extent and central impact and potentially heartbreaking for consumers who may be affected. Anthem runs Insurance Programs in 12 states. Its attack follows others during the last 18 months at retailers such as target and home depot. Cyber security expert says Big Companies can no longer be complacent about protecting data. What more can be done to stop it, through whatever reasons, whether its complacency or wont happen to me. It continues to happen. Anthem found out about the breach last week. Last night, it issued this statement from its president saying in part, i know you expect us to protect your information. The company says it will offer its customers one year of credit monitoring. The f. B. I. Is also investigating weather the personal information of the beneficiaries was stolen in anthems breach. The health and human Inspector Generals Office says it is assessing whether personal data about medicare and medicaid beneficiaries has been compromised. After the break, a criminal court case that features such depravity it brought about a guilty verdict a the jury has convicted a man, prosecutors say used beer pong to prey on college aged men and then rape them. The verdict today against Joey Poindexter guilty on eight counts covering five separate victims. Montgomery county reporter kevin lewis lays out the evidence the jurors say made them sick. Cameras caught Joey Poindexter holding up a stumbling drunk 18yearold boy by the back of his shirt. It was october 2013 at the pub in college park. The two met while playing beer pong. Poindexter later drove the teen to this gaithersburg home and sodomized him. The victim called police and set up a phone sting. No matter what did happen or didnt happen like i said, i was pretty trashed. And if it makes you feel better, i dont have any aids. A search of poindexters computer uncovered more male victims. Today, a jury found him guilty on all counts. Couple of sleepless nights. Jurors called the evidence which included home videos of the brutal assaults perverse and damning. I think what really got to me is when he started crying. You could hear the discomfort of not wanting this act happening to him. It moved me to tears honestly. They reflect a level of depraveity that is seldom seen in this building. Prosecutors say most of the men dont remember a thing. Even when you tell them you suspected theyve been victimized, what are you talking about . Then you take them back and show you the video. My god thats me. Im very glad that he will not be able to prey on other young adults. At any other point. And so a huge victory for prosecutors. The police have a lot of work still to do. They found at least 25 other young male victims on poindexters computer. And that work is proving to be quite trying as the 40yearold traveled all across the country on the beer pong circuit to cities like cleveland, las vegas, and seattle. After a santa monica Childcare Center was diagnosed with measles, officials shut the doors. 14 babies are now in quarantine. Its so easy to catch. As california deals with its largest Measles Outbreak in more than 15 years Health Officials in suburban c are investigating a cluster of measles. Across the country, now 102 cases of measles this year. Some california lawmakers want to give parents no choice than to vaccinate. We should not wait for more children to sicken or die before we act. When that Childcare Center does reopen the School System superintendent saying in a letter all parents must show proof of protection from the measles. 19 states still allow parents to opt out of vaccine requirements and a new study finds in 17 states, fewer than 90 of preschoolers get the vaccination vaccination. You can find schools where 30 or 40 of the children are not fully vaccinated against measles. Thats very risky. Meanwhile, in reno mom Christie Mullins fears her 16monthold daughter may be infected despite getting her first dose of the vaccine. Leon it was about 6 30 at night as she headed up the block towards that corner here she saw about 10 kids gathered just as she passed them. They pounced. The scene of a vicious attack by a group of 12yearolds and young teens. I dont know where theyre learning that behavior from. As a woman walked past a group, girls and boys, one of them struck her from behind. She collapsed on the sidewalk. The group then joined in the assault shattering the womans eye socket breaking her nose and leaving her badly bruised and shaken. The attack apparently random and unprovoked. Police announced the arrest yesterday of several girls believed to be about 12 years old and a juvenile boy. Some who regularly walked the streets of this neighborhood wonder what if anything, can be done to stop such violence from such young assailants. It comes after the New York Stock Exchange started the process of delisting that company that has seen sales plummet in recent years. According to bloomberg, radio shack has been in talks to sell some of its stores to sprint and amazon which is attempting to open more traditional stores. Radio shack has more than 5,000 stores nationwide. Time now for a look at the days other top stories. Right now, police are searching for a shooter in frederick, maryland. This happened last night outside of a basketball game at rival frederick high school. Police say the shooting was not random much the 14 and 15yearold victims are said to be members of a local gang. A u. S. Army veteran is under arrest accused of threatening to kill his wife and other people in her office at the u. S. Capitol. The 33yearold is charged with threatening to hurt people. A major cyber breach at Health Insurer anthem could impact tens of millions of people including many here in the d. C. Area. The company says that hackers gained access to personal information for about 80 million customers and employees. The f. B. I. Is now investigating. A socalled nanny cam is now credited with helping prosecutors in Frederick County convict a woman of elder abuse. We told you about terry freelands case last summer. And today, she was convicted of abusing a woman she cared for. 7 on your side investigator joce sterman live in our newsroom with how images this camera captured made the case. Court records we got showed in one nights footage, katherines family saw her abused 21 times over five hours. Now, that footage was immediately given to police back in july. Today, a judge looked at it and he said it was the reason that she was found guilty. It isnt right. Not true. No no no. Its not true to an extent. At the time of her arrest terry freelands family told the 7 on your side iteam the truth would come out and it did today in court. The judge handing down a guilty verdict for the 58yearold caregiver on charges of abuse of a vulnerable adult and seconddegree assault. Its all related to what happened in a house in frederick last summer. Charging documents we got showed freeland kicked threatened and yelled at 92yearold katherine dooley. Those documents claimed freeland even slapped the dimentia patient across the face with a book. And it was all caught on tape thanks to a camera that dooleys daughter set up in the duplex that they share. Freelands attorney tells us the incidents are less harsh than they sound and the emotions of this case were hard to overcome. Terry freeland is now out. Shes at home and working although her lawyer says no longer in health care though. That attorney does say he will argue for her to get no jail time because she has no prior record and history of condemnations in her work as a nanny. Prosecutors see it differently, though. The single engine plane hit a transmitter tower in lubbock last night. The pilot was killed. The f. A. A. Says he was the only one on board. Some incredible video tonight from california where a car destroyed a fire hydrant. A result this geyser spewing water 60 feet into the air. Its strange. Across the country, many museums ban the dwis, moma in new york and its possible the smithsonian could prohibit them too. Whats great about the gondola technology is theres a car coming by every 10 or 11 seconds. You heard that right. A gondola. Those cable cars seen on ski slopes. Kind of like a single metro car. But swinging on ropes. I may consider it. This one would connect rosalynn to georgetown. It would be fun and interesting. It would be affordable. The georgetown Business Improvement district has already raised 130,000 from businesses on both sides of the river. Thats about 60 of the money needed to study if this could work. They are asking d. C. And Arlington County if they could chip in the rest. We think its a really good regional partnership. Dont expect to see a gondola here any time soon because the study just to see if this could work here could take anywhere from nine to 10 months and then theres the construction down the road. Just as much as we would. Probably a good idea in terms of keeping businesses going and making them grow here in georgetown. I think its a pain in the butt to travel. Might be efficient. Investigators are looking a potential witness to a fire at a walmart in the chantilly shopping center. Firefighters say it was set on purpose last night.
