A number of lutes are in play after 1,000 people lost jobs and were learning that some local Construction Projects could be taking a hit. Its a story you saw first on 7 and Stephen Tschida broke the story of truman systems closure. Hes from one of the construction sites that could be affected. We just got an email from clarke construction, a major builder. It said they had a lot of contracts with truman and they are working with its clients to try to keep projects on track. In court filings, this specific project youre looking at now, this is the new science and Engineering Center at George Washington university. It says that trumans fare could have an impact here. A major electrical contractor, trumans went out of business. It had a lot on its plate such as a contract to do the wiring at George Washington universitys science center. I think its going to affect them drastically. They filed a motion in Bankruptcy Court complaining of truants failure putting the project woefully behind schedule. Truen also had electricians on the job on metros orange and blue lines and on the new facility and in nova fairfax hospital. Its beautiful. While students mourn any delays in construction of g. W. s new science center, ryan solomon wonders what he will do if the vehicle truen told him to take home the day it folded. We want it gone. A couple of former employees filed a class action suit against truen. It maintains the company broke the law by not providing adequate warning to workers violating the socalled warn account. Its definitely good for the warn act. Its good for the thousands of employees that havent been paid. But in the long line what does that get you years down the road. Clarke construction has more projects here at George Washington university than just the science center. As far as the warn act is concerned, it requires 60 days notice before a company goes under. This class action suit is seeking 60 days worth of compensation for truens former employees. Reporting live, Stephen Tschida, abc~7 news. Its going to be sort of an iffy weekend. Its not going to be a terrible weekend in the metro area. The further south and east you go towards the beaches and the atlantic it will be worse with more rain. 75 and cloudy and fairly comfortable outside the studios. We have seen moderate air in the richmond area. Most of the action continues well south and east of washington, d. C. Proper. All because of a coastal front thats hung up, plenty of moisture overriding the surface and as a result rain and more rain. ah and east. I think thats how the distribution will be with the heavy rain south and east of the metro area. Well get showers forth and west, yes, but most of it south and east. Scattered showers, 6470 the range of temperatures by morning. Futurecast has a handle with the steadiest heaviest rain showing up east of town. The showers become more numerous in the afternoon and evening across the entire area and it will be a bit warmer. Cloudy and scattered showers here and there. Not a washout for the metro area. But what the videos cant show you really only face time can because they have been stuck in the congo for nine months unable to leave without their adopted daughter laney. First at 6 00, congress was working into the night. They would love to get out of here, and the continued debate over how to cope with the Immigration Crisis on the border. Its not only dividing the house and senate, but even the Republican Party itself. Scott thuman is live in the newsroom with whats happening right now. What were seeing is some of that traditional washington theater. Heres the thing, even if the house delayed its recess to stay and work another day, passes that emergency spending for the border it it is likely to go nowhere and thats because the 700 million plan would need senate approval. And the senate is gone, heading back to their respective states and they tell me there is no indication that would come back to approve this bill which the house may vote on in a few hours. So both parties will be criticized for this. In a News Conference president obama took questions and said he will make some moves on this issue since congress is going to be out for five weeks. Im going to have to act alone because we dont have enough resources. Weve already been very clear. Weve run out of money, and we are going to have to reallocate resources in order to just make sure that some of the basic functions that have to take place down there, that those things get done. This of course may mean more executive orders that are issues that led republicans in the house to pursue suing the president
