A were upset about a package, pistol whipping him, dumping him after he started calling out loud. Last month that was a loud cry from a postal worker in the afternoon hours on the heels of a murder. The most recent kidnapping and murder happened in the afternoon. Barnette said that letter carriers did not sign up to defend themselves on the street. They did not sign up for it, they are not trained for it, nor are they prepared for it. We spoke with several customers who asked, what is next for the letter carriers . Are they going to have to carry weapons. To say that it was devastating is a definite understatement. Bloodmonths and a cord transplant later, lily is still alive. The disease has stopped progressing. She still spends her days in a pediatric wheelchair, receiving medicine six times per day. It so painful. It is a horrible disease. It makes them so uncomfortable. Parents are spearheading an effort to change the law in maryland to include it in the screening of newborn babies. When you are dealt with this and you feel like youre losing your child, you have to find some hope. Our hope was helping others. We feel that adding it to the newborn screening of the state of maryland could save lives. Six diseases will be screened if the law is changed, at an additional cost of four dollars to six dollars per newborn. Maryland would join four other states that currently screened for the disease. These days, lilys family is grateful for a transplant and has extended her life by at least 10 years. They hope that their work will prevent other families from having to walk in their shoes. We wanter life her life to have changed something in maryland. And maybe even nationwide. Bills are currently pending in the maryland state legislature.
