Army soldier being treated at walter reed has been battling an unlikely enemy. The department of Veterans Affairs. Sargent eric hunters fight started when he receiveed the disability rating this week. And joce sterman is in the Satellite Center to show us what we stepped in to question the system. Joce Sergeant Hunter stepped on an improvised explosive device in his second tour of duty and it cost him one of his legs below the knee and sent him to 40 other surgeries to save the other leg. Considering that is the start of his injuries we wanted to know why he wasnt granted 100 disability. Take a look. Alison president obama went to capitol hill to push for his ambitious trade bill but hours later it went back to drawing board after the house rejected a key piece of the package. Our senior political reporter scott thuman at the Capitol Hill Bureau. Why was the bill so important to the president . Scott first, let me tell you how important it was. Early this morning a surprise visit from president obama here on the hill as he went to meet with the democrats trying to convince them they need to vote yes on this bill. Indeed, it was democrats who are most weary of it and not on his side, at least not early this morning. Now, why is it so important . Many people say this is to be the biggest trade deal in world. You are talking about opening up the u. S. Market to 11 other asian markets as part of a 28 trillion piece of commerce. So a lot at stake here. Alison scott just break it down for us. What does it mean for all of us, whatever ends up happening with this . Scott okay. So here is the situation. It depends who you ask. Obviously two drastically different sides on this. But what you are talking about is a new partnership with nations overseas opening up the markets. So what is built in the united states, what is manufactured here could more easily be sent and sold overseas and vice versa. Those who are in favor of this say look, it creates jobs. That helps the economy. I allows us for us to create more products. Those against it labor unions say actually because we can also bring in other, it would lower wages here and increase the competition and not a good way. One of the biggest concerns politically here is that you also through this law the trade Promotion Authority you allow the president whoever it may be to put a bill before congress, a deal, a trade deal and say here is the big deal. But you can only vote yes or no. No amendments. That has a lot of people on the hill concerned. That is why the democrats were against it. One portion of today shut down another one moving forward. A big weekend of negotiations back to drawing table on monday. Alison let us know what happens. Thank you for debrief. Jonathan get ready to belt out hits like mandy or copacabana. The journey is expected to take more than 150 days. So far she has hit a snag. For the first three days they were pretty hellish. There were storms. Turned around to see a fishing vessel coming at me. Jonathan i hate when that happens. Jonathan the case surrounding socalled free range children in Montgomery County led to a maryland state policy clarification. Meitivs two children, ages 10 and 6, were picked up twice by Child Protective Services as they walked home alone and that created a fire storm on social media. It got so many people talking about it. The mother at the center of all of it is Danielle Meitiv. She joins us live via skype from Silver Spring. We appreciate you taking the time. The state has stepped in and said they should not investigate unless kids are harmed or face risk of harm. If the kids are walking by themselves, that is just fine. What is your reaction to that . Danielle its a step in the right direction. Im glad thaw noticed and they saw the need for the classification. Our family has been caught up with this a number of times. We certainly dont want other families to go through this. I think there is still more and they really do need to go further to reassure families like ours. Jonathan what else has to be done . A couple of times your kids were picked up by police. Instead of bringing them home they informed Child Protective Services and their job is to make sure children who are abused are taking care of or posed to the kids walking alone. Danielle one thing i would like to see in their position is the acknowledgment that parents have a right to make that decision. So far their policy statement doesnt say ask the children if their parents know where they are or call the parents and see if the children have permission. I think that is critical. Because parents have the constitutional right to make these decisions. I want to see an assurance that parents who decide to give their kids freedom and independence like we do wont get in trouble again. Jonathan how do you respond to the other parents who are on the other side who say in this day and age you have to keep an eye on your kids, period . Danielle based on what . Were afraid but i cant raise my kids on fear. I have to raise them on fact and what is best for them. Independence is good for them and safe. Jonathan Danielle Meitiv we appreciate your time. Thank you. Alison moving on to a much different topic that is trending. A growing number of brides are using wedding ringers or a bridesmaid for hire. Jen is a professional bridesmaid.
