Whats happening now . Reporter calm has been restored. That was not the case about 45 minutes ago. Let me set the scene for you. A few minutes after the curfew at 10 00 tonight there was a group that didnt want to leave. Police formed a line and then they advanced and this video shows what happened next. A number of folks there being taken into custody di. Many being tackled, hit with batons. These were all protesters who refused to leave when that 10 00 curfew started after a long day of marches and rallies. A vast majority of foblings decided to go home before the curfew took effect. A group formed a circle and decided they were not leaving. One said they felt now that charged were not announced they felt there shouldnt be a curfew anymore. They vowed it would be peaceful but also vowed they were not going to move. When police advanced a number ran away. A number held their ground and they were ultimately taken into custody. We got a chance to talk to one of the protesters after he had been taken into custody. This is what he had to say. I was just sitting. I dont like people that kill people that live in this city. Im on the wrong side apparently right now. Reporter shortly after that, that man was put in the police van and he and a whole number of others were taken into custody. Here, again, they had decided to violate tonights 10 00 occurify and police did not waste a lot of time taking the folks who made that decision into custody. 10 00 they formed a circle. By 10 05, police advanced. They held their ground and again, police moved in here tonight outside baltimores city hall. Anchor thanks, tom. Abc 7 was the first to report that grays fatal injury happened inside that Police Transport van. Investigators have been working around the clock to understand the sequence of events that happened that day. Now a clearer picture has emerged of who these officers were and how their actions may have played a role in the death of freddie gray. Chris what have you learned . Reporter over the years you can just imagine how many times these six officers that were just charged today in the death of freddie gray walked somebody into the Police Station and had them booked. They were the ones booked and they learned today they were suspended. I know it is not true. I know him. Reporter why do you say it is not him . It is just not him. No way. Reporter since age 9, this man who only wanted to be knowned a daniel has known officer william g. Porter. We caught up with daniel outside porters home. When you heard, what were your thoughts . Probably most likely not true. Reporter porter is one of Six Baltimore Police officers charged in the death of freddie gray and they range in the age from 2554. Four have bail set at 350,000. The rest at 250,000. According to online court records, all of them have bail bonds men. Those who live in this neighborhood with porter were just as shocked as daniel when we told them to have charges. No one did want to go on camera but daniel did defend his friend. You dont think he did this . No, sir. Reporter these six officers will be in court again together on may 7. They are all going to be there at the same time. If they are all found guilty of all of these charges they face, they face anywhere from 2063 years in jail. Anchor thanks chris. The frat ernl order of police were quick to respond calling the charged today a rush to judgment. In my 20 years as a Law Enforcement officer, and 16 years as an attorney, i have never seen such a rush to file charged. Anchor he went on to say that the union has grave concerns about the prosecution of its officers. Anchor business in baltimore is far from back on track. Many were left with nothing after mondays riots and even with deep roots in the community, the road to recovery is long. Richard spoke to some of those affected. Richard .
