Police say that 23yearold Sylville Smith was shot twice once in the arm, and also in the chest. Smith died on scene. The officer was placed on administrative duty. Later in the evening a group of protesters angry about the shooting. Started looting businesses. And setting fires. Saturday night. This prompted Governor Scott walker to activate the National Guard. In response, from a request from Milwaukee County sheriff david clarke, Governor Scott walker has activated 125 members of the National Guard to milwaukee. Our intention is that they are not coming over to be immediately on the ground orn that they would be available at this site if a request was made shot spotter has detected more than 48 activiations and each activation could be a round of multiple shots. So its way more than 48 shots fired. Officials say they are preparing for the worst. So 125 National Guard members are in place to help tonight if needed. All of the officers out this patrol units. The mayor says hes prepared to enact a curfew if necessary. Earlier in the evening. Things remained calmer. A group of several hundred people marched from the charred bp gas station to the interseciton of 44th and auer. Calling for peace. Among the group Syville Smiths sisters.
