According to the newly unsealed search warrant, smith was in the drivers seat of a car approached by police who say they saw a green bay man looking like he was securing spot while smith got out of the car and took off. The search warrant says smith ran up 44th street then tried to cut through this walkway between houses. The warrant says smith had a gun and fell near a fence. as he got back to his feet, he turned toward the officers while picking up the handgun. police have said smith then pointed the gun at officers, prompting one officer to shoot. But this warrant actually focuses on what was in the car. Investigators allegedly found a rolled dollar bill containing a heroin, a plastic bag containing a gray substance suspected to be heroin, and two bags containing an offwhite rock like substance suspected to be cocaine base. also inside the car, authorities found three flip phones. All of them were on. The doj special agent wanted permission to go through those phones to see if they contain proof of a drug dealing operation.
