Bayatpour is in the newsroom to explain. Milwaukee Police Confirmed yesterday that the officer who shot Sylville Smith is africanamerican himself. Today, from the only similarity between the two. Thats the blackonblack crime but why . Was it jealously . Milwaukee police are not releasing the name of the officer who shot Sylville Smith, saying threats have been made against him. Sherelle smith says that officer is no stranger to her family. The boy knew my brother personally from high school. They knew each other. You knew exactly how my brother was and you shot and killed him. During our interview, smith says investigation, adding that if body camera footage shows her brother holding a gun, she still wont believe the officer was justified in firing his weapon. If my brother did have his gun in his hand, why he didnt shoot back . If hes gonna go out, why not go out with a fight . Why not go out with a big bang . As for the unrest that has followed the shooting of Sylville Smith, his sister condemns the looting and burning that has happened. Violence is never the key, though, im not saying that. I dont want anyone to be violent. While also striking a somewhat if we dont have answers, were gonna find them and were gonna find them our way, were not find them yall way no more, were not gonna compromise no more. At the same time, smith calls for unity. I invite any color, any gender, any race, any age to come have fun with us. A Milwaukee Police source confirms the officer did attend Pulaski High School with Sylville Smith. Staff, students and even those in the community gathered hoping to find and bring peace to the city amidst the recent unrest. They say that prayer is just the first step in finding a solution. This is our call is to begin with a prayer for peace today. But then tomorrow, even this afternoon think about what we can actually do to address the problems. This is video from a metro pcs store near 36th and fond du lac. A group of people broke in and started ransacking the place stealing merchandise. They werent the only business targeted this weekend. Now Business Owners are on High Convenience store on burleigh hoping order will be restored. The busy hustle of monday morning traffic was seen along sherman boulevard many returnign to work including abu zobra the owner of three Brothers Grocery and tobacco store. His store on burleigh street is steps away from the gas station that was set fire saturday night. it got me a little worried. hes been so worried he closed his doors early sunday night as the crowds across the street began to was just starting. he returned this morning to broken windows this one, it got repaired. But the damage doesnt stop there. This one, this one. busted windows glass shattered the evidence still there and many of his windows now boarded up. i mean its something that doesnt make me happy, but i dont know. Im happy that it just didnt get any worse than what it is. he says he can thank his loyal customers for stepping in to every time they come in here, like yeah, we told them to stop, this is our neighborhood stop. It felt really good. the store has several surveillance cameras however the store owner says there is a glitch in the system. This morning they swore in 45 new recruits. They come from all different backgrounds, all levels of experience. But each one of them wants to join the force to help others. Their loved ones say, the unrest over the weekend made for a particularly meaningful ceremony. i think were a little more nervous, because it is a great risk as they said. But i do he will be safe. the new recruits will take part in 6 months of intense training at the police academy. Those that pass will become officers in february of 2017. Firefighters also deserve a lot of credit this weekend. They had to battle more than just the path of gunfire and flying bricks. I heard Police Officers tell a crowd of spectators to disperse or else theyd start making fire. But given how quickly things have escalated this weekend. Officials say the extra precautions are necessary. As the sun began to rise monday morning. Milwaukee Fire Fighters were back at the scene time putting out a house fire near 41st and burleigh. Most of these firefighters have been up 24, 48 hours fighting fires. Batallion chief Kevin Hafemann says its too early to tell whether this incident is connected to the unrest thats already charred parts of the sherman park neighborhood. People protesting the saturday officerinvolved shooting of Sylville Smith. Set this bp gas station up in flames. As well as the Oreilly Auto Parts building. Multiple vehicles. And thats why we use crews from all over the city, some of the shared services from neighboring communities. Many times. Those crews were unable to get to the flames. Instead they were forced to shield themselves from objects being thrown and guns being fired. Deputy chief Terry Lintonen is now looking ahead to tonight in case chaos breaks out for a third day in a row. When the violence is so close it makes me upset. its impossible to ignore, i wish it would all stop. however its not unimaginable to overcome. i just pray that it will all stop. in clear view of a neighborhood in pain a club for every kid. are the walls holding up the goodness it has. for the most part our parents unders club here in sherman park is truly the diamond in the rough for this community. the club, as expected, about 180 to 190 kids per day. is pushing forward with summer activities, mindful of whats happening around them. yeah we have open and frank conversations with out members. We leave the opportunity open to them to want to express their feelings, their opinions and their frustrations. Marco Morrison is the club manager and says Sylville Smith , the 23yearold man killed last saturday night many years ago. but that was before my time. morrison says the club is needed more than ever when violence is prevalent. the message is if you want a positive place for a young person to go. We are not suffering from lack of opportunity. asserting the challenges are real but their results are too. even for the teenagers there is something their for them also. so even when the view is this. Its possible to picture better days. A janesville man dies after his the Sheriffs Department says 63 yearold Ronald Norton crashed near the Fort Atkinson Municipal Airport shortly after taking off. He reportedly had engine problems, and tried to put it down in a field. The ultralight crashed and started on fire. The pilot was taken to the hospital where he later died. Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting from this afternoon. It happened shortly after noon near 30th and lisbon. Officials say a 28yearold man was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to hospital for serious injuries. Police are currently sec some incredible video of a water rescue in louisiana. You can see rescuers attempting to save a woman from a submerged car. They start by trying to break the cars windows. But it eventually goes underwater completely. Seconds later, the woman is pulled to the surface.
