Political reporter theo keith joins us in the studio, theo, some concerns. The warning to county clerks was this. Expect more attention than normal at the couting sites because wisconsin is in the national spotlight. Good morningcounty clerks get their final instructions before the recount starts at 9 am thursday. Election administrators say that anyone can watch as the votes get recounted in each county. Make challenges. We would expect people to be civil wisconsin citizens and guests, and if they want to participate in the process, thats fine, but our expectation is that it will largely go smoothly elections administrators say that some clerks are miffed that the recount comes at the request of Green Party Candidate jill stein, who got just one percent of the vote. The communication weve had from clerks has not been frantic or panicky theres been some frustration over that this is necessary stein is footing the bill now estimated at 3 point 9 million dollars. Wednesday, she announced she would not appeal a judges ruling that allows clerks to count ballots by hand or use Voting Machines. Her campaign said, given the time constraints, we want to focus on the recount. Our focus will be on verifying the vote on the ground. Steins campaign has said, without providing evidence, that wisconsins Voting Machines couldve been tampered with. Another tool that those how the recount goes onethird of clerks thats 24 of them plan to use machines to count at least some of their ballots. The top concern from Election Administrators is finding enough people to be paid vote counters especially in rural counties.
