Mpd says it happened saturday afternoon near 76th and florist. The squad car was stopped at an intersection when it was hit from behind. The driver turned out to be a 48year old woman whos been an officer with mpd for 22 years. Investigators say she was offduty but under the influence. Neighbors of the officer says the incident doesnt fit her character. Come first her family comes first. As neighbors, i grew up with her she is like a mom to me. She still is a person on the other side of her job. She knew she did wrong even though she is a Police Officer today. That officer is suspended from her job at district four. Her name is not being released at this time. The officer in the squad that was struck was taken to the hospital child abuse charges. 24year old kiara keyareuh patterson allegedly subjected her infant to medical tests the child did not need. Prosecutors say she took her infant to four different hospitals and urgent care facilities a total of 21 times since birth. Doctors say the child was fine. According to the criminal complaint, many of the tests and medical procedures that the infant underwent were invasive painful and exposed the baby to radiation. The child was also allegely not have been necessary. her lawyer said our deadline on this story was too soon. And declined to comment. Its no easy conversation, but its an important one to have. According to this criminal complaint filed in june, investigators say patterson took the fourmonth old to four different hospitals and urgent care facilities a total of 21 times since birth. Each time the mother claiming the baby was ill. According to the infants medical records, police say patterson claimed the child had umbilical Hernia Surgery but theres no record of any surgical procedure. Police say patterson claimed doctors told her to dilute the babys formula but again, investigators say theres no record of that. Patterson also claimed the baby had a fever at each hospital visit. But police sy over a 100degrees. Police say patterson told the childs father the baby had cancer. Investigators say no evidence of either points to being true. In fact, according to the criminal complaint, many of the tests and medical procedures that the infant was exposed to were invasive, painful and exposed the baby to radiation. The child was also allegedly given medication that may not have been necessary, prompting the da to charge patterson with one count of physical abuse of a child.
