I was suppose to go to walmart and Western Union but they told me not to let the people know. They were being watchedthat was a huge red flag for bobbie and she reached out about what you do. You let us know these things. Im glad she emailed but this survey scam is a new twist on the secret shopper scam or the International Shipping scam. The con artist all want you to basically cash a fake check for them and send them a huge chunk of money. When your bank comes back later and says hey its a fake, youll be the one paying it back. Police in appleton respond after a post about an abduction attempt turns out to be fake. Fox 6s Jessob Reisbeck has some advice from police. According to the Appleton Police times in about a day. A woman claimed she was approached by another woman at a fox cities walmart in an abduction attempt. The message, generally, was people should continue to share the message and let people know of this danger that was out there. In the post, the woman claimed an off duty Police Officer from milwaukee prevented the abduction. She also said she reported the incident to local police. Sergeant dave lund says there was no such report. A lot of people did the right thing and turned to us and asked us if this was a legitimate s tracked down the woman who made the post and brought her to the station for an interview. They did admit that they did fabricate the story, that they really underestimated the power of social media. Lund says the woman did not technically do anything illegal, so she wont face any punishment. However, he said it was important to get the to the bottom of the story and tell people the truth.
