The city has been in the hands of isis for more than a year. The u. S. Military is providing air support to the iraqi military. Retaking mosul is a massive operation. It could take weeks or months. Since American Forces left several years ago. After one day of fighting, Kurdish Forces have pushed the front line back about five miles. Today they hope to get even closer to mosul.
