Terry neighbors say the building demolition had been underway across the street here for a couple of weeks. But just before 11 00 this morning, a large wall crashed east side office building. Neighbors snapped photos of the aftermath. The owner of pizza shuttle says his building shook and a dentist says a brick flew through the window of a patient room. I think they thought it was going to fall into a hole they had there. But instead it fell toward the building. And the whole building just shook like an earthquake. You knew right away there were no cars under it. But there was a big plume of smoke, of dust. I wish they would have told me the exact minute they were coming down. We could have gotten away from the windows in case Something Like that could happen. Terry the city says they performed an inspection after the collapse. Colleen Alderman Bob Donovan sent us hundreds of emails constituents complaining about increased crime and delayed response times. Wisn 12 news investigates and finds numbers that suggest its not the south side but the north side getting shorted. Doris bauer says its gotten so bad in her neighborhood this summer prostitutes were using her garden hose to wash off between customers. Up and down the alley all the time, using drugs right here by the garbage can. Colleen she lives at the corner of 26th greenfield on milwaukees south side. The same corner is home to notre dame Elementary School. When you do see an increase things like prostitution and drug use, there cant be enough Police Presence until it has dissipated. Colleen last week, southside aldermen demanded more Police Resources and complained of inadequate staffing and delayed response times. They found 37yearold Kevin Higgins in full camo, carrying an assault weapon. Surveillance video shows him raise the gun at officers, thats when he was shot and killed. Kurt klessig and Mary Heitzmann were inside the bar when this all unfolded. Their Attorney Says klessig was seriously injured during the incident. Theyre accusing the officers of negligence. Klessig and heitzmann filed a notice of claim against the city last week.
