Countywide effort to make sure registered sex offenders know theyre not allowed to participate. Deputies along with state and federal agents gathered today in milwaukee, teaming up to check nearly two hundred addresses across milwaukee county, homes of registered sex offenders. Even before today wisconsin probation and parole agents have been making sure the registered sex offenders know the rules about halloween. And the consequences if theyre in violation. We are making sure they are in their houses, not passing out candy, not having their porch lights on, and not taking part in any way. We want to make sure the kids have a safe environment for this holiday and this event. So we are going out with probation and parole to make sure they are not in violation in any way. If they are in violation they will be apprehended. Nick we went along with their checks this afternoon as they stopped in on the sex offenders what was going on. A wisconsin sheriffs deputy is dead after getting shot on the job. A suspect is in custody. Authorities arrested 43yearold doug nitek this afternoon. Were told deputies responded last night to a report of a suspicious vehicle in ladysmith just north of eau claire. Officials say the deputy radioed that he found the vehicle but lost contact shortly afterward. When back up arrived, they found the deputy shot to death. That prompted a manhunt for the suspect who was arrested. We the deputy who was killed. His name was deputy dan glaze, a sevenyear veteran in Law Enforcement, with a year and a half here in rusk county. Sheldon nitek is in jail tonight awaiting formal charges. Governor scott walker released a statement on twitter saying he plans to work with Law Enforcement across the state to ensure the deputys killer is brought to justice.
