We started seeing signs of anxiousness. Talking about not sleeping very much. She was not concentrating as well on school. Herself throw up. Is it my kid wants attention . Or my kid has a Mental Illness . And you just dont know. So they sought professional help. After both of those experiences in the treatment center, she thought she was doing better. We thought she was doing better. We never really thought that she would take her life. People ask him how did they not know abby was suicidal . Children will tell you what they want to tell you. Theyre only going to give you a certain amount of information. There are triggers people are affected by, and we didnt know necessarily what those triggers were. And i think there was a trigger that happened that made her feel really sad that particular day. After abby died, her parents found her journal. They were all stories that we had seen, but she felt like they were bigger than life. So they urge other parents to have real empathy when kids share a problem and to avoid a common response. That Old School Mentality of hey, just get over it. or what do you have to be sad about . . Information and she needed more time. Recognizing the need for parents to have more information the pamphlets and the booklets. The goldbergs, along with other volunteers, created a group they call redgen.
