Mary len, two people are now dead and three others injured in a shooting at a seattle homeless camp known as the jungle. It happened around 7pm last night, officers responded to a shots fired call. One victim was pronounced dead on the scene, four others were taken to a hospital where a second victim later died. Its believed that the people shot were targeted. Seattle police say they are looking for two suspects in believe there is no threat to the larger Homeless Population. The identity of those killed in the shooting has not yet been released. Police in oregon have remained on the scene of a federal wildlife refuge where several protesters were arrested and another was killed. The good news scdot says despite delays, the interstate 26 is moving along, and isisxpected to be completed by late spring. The project was originally set to be done in september, but additional repairs, and octobers devastating flooding, cause some delays. I spoke with the scdot engineer heading this project. Allen Thompson Says there were 400thousand dollars worth of drainage repairs that had to be done but overall the project remains onbudget. Continued rain weve seen since octobers historic flood has also caused problems. Crews are not able to lay asphalt when its wet because it will not set properly. Scdot says construction crews have been trying to catch up on work they werent able to do for months. Since the flood weve been placing asphalt, we have been working on the barrier wall, finishing up other elements of the project. Like i said the project is approximately 90 asphalt. Thompson says unless we see more bad weather the project should be on schedule for completion in the late spring. Allen Thompson Says there were 400thousand dollars worth of drainage repairs that had to be done but overall the project remains onbudget. Continued rain weve seen since octobers historic flood has also caused problems. Crews are not able to lay asphalt when its wet because it will not set scdot says construction crews have been trying to catch up on work they werent able to do for months. Since the flood weve been placing asphalt, we have been working on the barrier wall, finishing up other elements of the project. Like i said the project is complete. Primarily all the remains is the asphalt. Thompson says unless we see more bad weather the project should be on schedule for completion in the late spring. Scdot has been widening and repaving east and west lanes of interstate 26 from i77 to orangeburg. I spoke with the scdot engineer heading this project, allen thompson, who says the project at this point is 90 percent complete. And if everything goes according to plan you should see the project completely finished in april or may of this year. A majority of the construction is taking place at night on the road itself and there is still work to do on the shoulder in both directions. Once shoulderwork is done, Thompson Says all lanes will be open to use. Crews are widening i26 from 4lanes to 6lanes from i77 toward charleston for about 10 miles, and then from there to orangeburg the road will be resurfaced. Right now, if youre traveling on i26 west bound, crews have opened up all three of those lanes to use.
