The patrol says myersseen here in his garage with a trooperfailed field sobriety tests there and later registered a point zeronine on a blood alcohol analyzer. The way state law is structuredthe pending charge is considered a first offense dui because myers previous dui arrest in North Carolina dates back more than ten years. But crime Victim Advocate and madd member laura hudson says these new developments call for myers at least to turn over all dui cases in his office to the state attorney general. Senator lee bright subbed in for beaufort senator tom davis on the filibuster today after davis talked nonstop on the senate floor both tuesday and wednesday. Bright echoed davis argument though arguing for more reform to the South Carolina department of transportation and less taxation. The road funding bill is made all the more complicated by the three requirements governor state of the state address both in 2015 and in 2016 dot reform, income tax cuts, and a gas tax increase. Senator bright, however, wants to cut the tax increase entirely and said in the Senate Chamber he would rather focus exclusively on dot reform proposing a death to the roads bill entirely as its currently written. But, if bright and his allies in the senate were to succeed theres the question of whether or not their version of the road bill would even get the nod from Governor Haley after all.
