They are attempting to block the tunnels with ice barriers and workers would remove the contaminated water. But the acting chief of the Nuclear Regulation authority says the efforts have been ineffective. He says they will now have to solidify the contaminated water with concrete. He says thats not the most desirable option because radioactive substances would remain. But fuketa said that would be better than tainted water leaking into the ocean.
