The warmer weather has saved the des moines public works dept. 50,000 so far. That is the equivalent of 2 days of snow removal. They have spent just under 1000 on treating the roads. The warmer weather helps apply the treatment and does a better job of deicing when the first snow falls. They plow if 1 inch of snow falls. The annual budget for snow removal is 3. 2 mil. While this time or warmer weather helps, Officials Say materials will get used sometime this year. Theyve seen this before and it doesnt mean it will be a warm rest of the winter. This extra time has given the dept more time to complete Construction Projects and fill potholes. Public Works Department is looking forward to first snow. It helps everyone get back into the habit of dealgith it, and driving in. O far, we have spent under 0. Oally, by this te spent 50,000 out of our snow budget.
