The final rule requires more Renewable Fuels than the proposal. But still falls short of the congressional mandate. From 16 point 28 billion gallons in 2014 to 18 point 11 billion in 2016. About half a billion gallos fewer than what congress voted. Celulosibiofue is st t go up from3 millionallons to 230 million gallons. The epa says the requirements boost production and support a robust and achievable growth of the biofuels industry. Some ag groups say that Shows Progress from the proposal. And moves the Biofuel Industry in the right direction. However. Groups like the iowa Renewable Fuels association arent and i know a lot of people like to say, well, its at least better than the proposal. But i dont really give credit that way. If the proposal was absolutely horrible, and the final rule is just horrible. Is that really an improvement . No, the fact of the matter is, they lowered the numbers, below what congress set them at with an illegal justification. Shaw says the adjusted numbers are not good for farmers holding on to record crops with low market prices. He adds on products like biodiesel. The number is 300 million gallons up. But thats 25 percent below what was asked. And that doesnt account for the 400 million gallons of imported argentinian biodiesel. And the update on the Renewable Fuels standard is already in the grain markets. It was expecting june estimates on ethanol production. You know, over late yesterday afternoon, the epa did raise slightly the rfs for biofuels. It as anticipated. As our usage for corn ethanol is going to increase in 2016 from what was anticipated in june. The same thing with bio diesel use so that was a bit of a support along with the fact that the market causing a bit of a Short Covering rally. Well, the Cattle Market continues to have a disappointing cash trade last week, traded 127 in the southern planes. The beef markets trying to show some stability but the Cattle Market continues to just not react to the positive weather. The weather issues that weve had down south, which could slow the rate of gains so looking for demand to pick up at the present time is the real issue. Well, the hog market has a real strong technical day today. Cutout continues to find some strength. Start to carve out a seasonal low, and the demand is starting to pick up so all adds up to a higher price here today. The iowa partment of was submitted yesterday. In a meeting between governor branstad and iowa ag secretary bill northey. Northey asked for 10 Million Dollars for the iowa Water Quality initiative. And five hundred thousand dollars for the Avian Influenza response efforts. The 10 million is four hundred thousand dollars more than was budgeted this year. Northey also requested 7 point five Million Dollars for conservation cost share. Last year the state invested nine point eight Million Dollars. Generating 12 point eight million in matching funds from farmers and landowners. There are still 17 agriculture drainage wells in the state.
