It happened just before nine this morning in rural Clarke County. Two men were working to remove grain from a bin near murray when one of them. 39year old eric reasland. Disappeared. Authorities couldnt spot reasland in the bin. So they began cutting holes in it. To release the corn. It took them three hours to find him. But by that time it was too late. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities say the grain in the bin had apparently crusted over reasland was walking on the grain to break it up. We do know the name of the victim of a fatal crash last night on hubbell avenue in des moines. 61year old James Pascasio was hit hand killed was he was crossing hubbell avenue at east 42nd street around 5 30 last night. Police say he was hit by a 19year old driver who didnt leave the scene. Neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash. And no charges have been filed. Police say their investigation is ongoing. And there are no updates in the search for a hitandrun driver who killed an iowa state student this week. 18year old emmalee jacobs of urbana was hit and killed while crossing a street monday morning. Her body was found by an isu Police Officer. Her death was not recorded by any nearby traffic cameras. Police are asking for anyone with information about the crash to please contact them. A Memorial Service for jacobs will be held friday evening in urbana. Her funeral will be held at Center Point Urbana high school on saturday morning. A new report released today gives a scathing review of iowas Animal Protection laws. The Animal Legal Defense Fund says when it comes to protecting animals. Iowa is the second worst state in the union. Only kentucky finished below iowa. Tensions are high in baltimore after a jury failed to reach a verdict in the trial of the first Police Officer tried for the death of freddie gray. Gray died in Police Custody last april.
