Its a turning point for everyone, and they are all trying to present a version of themselves that has nothing to do with whats going on inside them i know you dont know me, but be my boyfriend for one night. No way. They are people struggling to connect. Thats the hilarity of it all. Madison has been doing this weird thing. Do me a favor. Dont laugh. Hi, madison. There she is. You are such a jerk. Yeah. Dont. Stop it. Even though the movie really celebrates a lot of their dysfunction, theres a lot of love. Its complex cocktail of emotion. They are all looking to get through this night with nobody really knowing whats really going on with them, and hopefully buying the lies. And i think what they get in the end is a real connection. Because when we were just 19, he was there and protecting us and helping us grow. And he makes us believe in ourselves, you know . He gives us that faith. Yeah. And we cant believe the ideas that he gets. And he loves our ideas too. So its like this symbiotic thing, you know . To lead off the album, Wilson Phillips rerecorded a fun song from the 1970s. They said, well, its called i wish it could be Christmas Every day. And it was this long pause. Right. And we all said, okay. Tell us more. And we listened to it i guess a and all of us emailed and texted each other. Its great. Its different. Its quirky. Totally unexpected. But its a great song. Well, i wish it could be Christmas Every day when the kids get singing and the band begins to play another highlight on christmas in harmony is the groups cover of the beach boys song our prayer from the legendary album smile. We were trying to brain storm what we were going to put on the record. And it just hit me one day. I was listening to our prayer. Actually, playing it for the children. And, you know, trying to see their reaction. And i said, oh, my goodness. This is like a really spiritual song. This would be amazing for the christmas record. So i presented it to the girls and glenn. And everyone said, oh, yeah, we have to do this. Now baby come on now honey christmas in harmony features some great originals like warm loving christmastime written by carneys husband. He is just a really great songwriter. And he wrote a great pop Christmas Song. Im really glad that we did it because i think we sound great on it. It has this really fun, upbeat vibe like wish it could be Christmas Every day. Its real pop and real catchy. And chynna always loved it. Chynna contributed a song of her own. Christmastime. It was just this melody that popped in my head. I thought it had a really neat energy. I thought ill just go in there and run it past the girls. And everyone got the bug because its a very sort of catchy little melody. And we sat down and finished off the song, all of us together. And the original track was a lot longer. We ended up adding another verse and cutting the bridge. So it had a few makeovers. Think it turned out real nice. Christmas time is such a wonderful time oh, i need another copy. Chynna, carney, and wendy believe that getting together to record christmas in harmony is a gift they all really appreciate. We just sense each other. Thats how we sing. I think thats why we have such a good blend. We know each other so well. Doing. Ever. Practice. I just think were locked in. I just feel so honored and blessed we got to do this and we got to make a christmas record. And i just pray that its a staple in peoples homes every christmas. Future holds or how to be less of a young man and more of just a man. In that way, its a classic coming of age story. With which so many christmas stories and cut. Joe kind of liked the emotional core of the movie, which is perfect for joe. He is very funny in the movie, but he has this kind of in the best way a very relatable, everyman kind of quality. You see the movies, and youre like, these dudes just pick up a camera and throw together a movie. No, a lot of insight goes into it. A lot of perceptive Decision Making goes into making these movies. I feel like a lot of people think oh, its easy. I can do that. Until you get in the midst of one. And i have been very impressed by how diligent he is with keeping to the story and how focused he is on developing the characters the right way. Once we realized like, oh, its a christmas movie, we can kind of again like step into these realms of indulging them a we were like, we can really make it like an unbelievably gratifying cinematic experience. One of the Main Attractions at a Country Christmas is the radio city christmas spectacular, starring the world famous rockettes. The rockettes were originally from missouri, and they were called the missouri rockets. That was in 1925. And then in 1933, they moved to the radio city music hall and became the radio city rockettes. There are 18 rockettes in the show, and there are 200 around the united states. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions. I know for me, i get really, you know, sentimental, and then i get so happy because the kids are around and were opening gifts. And then you start thinking back to your childhood. And, you know, sometimes you can get sad. And its really for me personally always a roller coaster ride. I wanted to bring that out with the record. Home for the holidays i believe i missed each and every thing come on and play funny things and turn on every love light in the place its a song that not a lot of people have covered over and over again. Its been covered by a few people, but its not the typical one. He is so musical, and he loves to experiment. And this song kind of came together morees he recorded his vocal before i recorded mine actually. I recorded a tracking vocal. But never like my final vocal. And im glad i didnt because he had so many cool ideas in places he was singing all over the place. It doesnt sound like your typical duet. We do sing over each other sometimes and we dont necessarily blend, blend all the time. But theres something very raw about that, that makes that song so depend in our collaboration. So unique.
