Reporter prosecutors say this guy has been in and out of jail. He has been convicted almost more then a dozen times for a variety of charge. They say threats against officers still are kind of common but when you make a threat against an officers family, well thats something else. Salvatore mendez back behind bars leaving one detectives and his family breathing easier. Investigators say the detective had gotten an arrest warrant for break breaking and entering when mendez left a troubling message on the detectives voice mail. He told the detective that he was going to kill him and his family tonight. This threat was did you to recent court cases that he has with mendez. Reporter police airplaned protective surveillance and then wept looking for mendez. Investigators say the detective had no trouble figuring out who had left that threatening message. He received a message from someone who identified himself as salvatore mendez. The call came in from a phone number and reverse look up showed it is listed to salvatore mendez. Reporter he was found in Marlborough Hospital when Marlborough Police took him after they say mendez was break breaking windows and acting erratically. Quincy police picked him up and charged him with threatening their detective. The judge set bail at 10,000 but also ordered machine dez held without bail on another case. She had him checked out by a doctor and said he doesnt remember making the threats but she says he has a history of drugging to the point of blacking out.
