Andy you may not believe it, but youre looking at Boston Police working on one of the meanest streets in the city. Blue hill avenue is a major thoroughfare in area b, bostons most dangerous neighborhood. Last year there were more murders, rapes and robberies in of this city. To fight crime, police and Community Leaders meet once a week at the district b3 station for a peace walk led by superintendent and chief william gross. I believe in engaging the community. So i get out and walk and talk all the time. Andy gross, who has been in the department for 3 years, is the citys first black chief. We learned that we have concerns about the same wellbeing of the community and instead of looking like a Clint Eastwood macho cop, im like, hey, this person is human. Andy but are we working and moving forward . Yeah. Andy are you ever conflicted and caught between being a black man and a Police Officer . That is an excellent question. The con politics, if there was one, would be if theres no marked improvement since i came on the department until now, because how could i work for a dependent like that after ive seen no improvement. Andy and gross wants the what about Police Officers and how we feel. We say black lives matter. We say all lives matters. I agree. But what about the ones who pay the ultimate sacrifice and are killed in the line of duty does your life matter . Andy the superintendent talks the talk and walks the walk. He 7news.
