Police say not only were they in a stolen car, but they raced off trying to avoid police and in doing so, they hit that man and seriously hurt him. I happened to be looking outside and all of a sudden, there were cars everywhere. Reporter the driver in this white jeep made an eratic turn, investigators saying trying to avoid police slamming into the curb, hitting a man walking along the median and even if both air bags went off, police say the two teens inside jumped out and ran off. A lot of noise. I saw many police, maybe seven cars, maybe nine. Reporter Mass State Police say it started on mystic avenue friday afternoon. A trooper ran the jeeps plate and it came back stolen from melrose. The trooper followed the car and the police say when the sped off turning on lombardi way and he hit the man and the driver and the teenage passenger ran off but Police Quickly found them and arrested them. For hours, the investigators snapped pictures and collected evidence while shop owners in the evidence grew concern about the chaos and say this is a busy area with people walking from the t to the Shopping Center so it could have been worse. The man who was hit, a 26yearold from somerville, he was rushed to mass General Hospital where police say hes in serious condition but expected to survive. Reporter yeah, kim, police say a family of four were trying to cross this street when the car hit the father and the two little girls in the stroller and all three were rushed to the hospital . A baby stroller and crime scene tape left after a car struck this family crossing the street. A father was pushing a stroller who to little girls inside, one nine months old and the other two years old. It caused the father to roll up and land on the pavement. The stroller. Their mother was not hit. This happened on the barney streets. The crowds gathered as the victims were loaded up in the ambulance and going to the hospital. Its a sad thing happening, nearby.
