It happened the afternoon of august 7th in the 28hundred block of north lamon. A man approached the boy as he walked his dog. He told the boy he had a nice body, and asked if he wanted to go to a nearby alley. The boy said no, and walked away. One person was killed and two others were injured in a fire at a vacant building in the logan square neighborhood. It happened in the 34hundred block of west armitage, just before midnight. Officials say a mattress caught fire, and quickly spread. The building was engulfed in smoke when firefighters arrived. They pulled out a woman, who died. And two men, who were injured. The building has been vacant for six months, but Officials Say the three had been staying there for a while. The city has been trying to broker peace between the cubs and wrigley rooftop owners for years. Now it finds itself the defendant in a lawsuit. Patrick elwood is live with the story. Good morning. The owners are suing the city and specifically the Landmark Commission. At issue, the want to block a team from putting up the outfield signs because they would block their views. The owners claim the signs would violate an existing landmark ordinance protecting the field features. The lawsuit follows the Landmark Commission approval several weeks ago of the cubs plan to renovate the field and the seven sides are integral part of the teams future moneymaking platform. The lawsuit says that they would negotiate privately with the mayor and staff and deliberately excluded the rooftop owners. No comments from the city or the cubs. Only some of the owners are part of a lawsuit. Not all of them which would seem to indicate dissension in the ranks. Noticeably absent absent is the owner of murphys bleachers. A 16yearold boy was shot to death at a strip mall in sauk village. Three other people were hurt. Two groups of young men argued outside the mall, and one man pulled a gun. A Chicago Police sergeant is accused of sexually abusing another officers 9yearold daughter. Prosecutors say 61yearold Dennis Barnes fondled and kissed the girl at a barbecue, hosted by her mother. The girl started crying, and told her mother what had happened. Barnes is charged with sexual abuse and attempted sexual assault. Hes been relieved of his police powers. Barnes denies the charges. Police in indonesia ran psychiatric tests on 19year old heather mack. Shes being held along with her 21yearold boyfriend as suspects in the beating death of her mother, sheila von weesemack, whose body was found in a suitcase on the island of bali. Police are searching for a man accused of assaulting his former girlfriend and abducting their children. Police say dejavonte finley went to his Childrens Home in zion yesterday, then demanded their mother go with him to the courthouse to recant two domestic battery cases against him. Scientists have discovered a new sinkhole at indiana dunes, where a sixyear old boy from illinois was buried alive last summer. Scientists returned to mount baldy yesterday for more testing. He spent three hours underground before he was rescued. Scientists are now using special equipment to get underground images of the area. We are doing very detailed Ground Penetrating radar. State wildlife officials claim they are disrupting rare birds and scaring them off. Some residents think the nudists need to let the birds win. This is a bird sanctuary. Were blessed to live here but ultimately it belongs to them. A state wildlife spokesperson says it is a federal crime to walk on the island, but nudists are allowed to wade in the water offshore. Since the island is so remote, its difficult for authorities to monitor it all of the time. They are meeting to discuss how to better protect the birds. The birds were there first.
