Police are looking to two men in the 20s or 30s who entered a home in the 7900 block through the back door. Struck the man with a blunt object and demanded his money from the riverboat casino. When he refused to give it up he was shot in the abdomen. He ran for help to a neighbors house. Her medics took him to Crest Medical Center in oakland where he had surgery. He is listed in stable condition. Police hope Surveillance Video from the casino will help identify the attackers. The door was forced open he heard that he was confronted by two male subjects who hit him in the head. They demanded the money that he had won. He tried to resist and at that point they shot him. The casino is cooperating with the investigation. Police believe there is no immediate threat to the community. A group of people on the south side worked with police to save their neighbors from a burning home. A man who lived in the house in the west pullman neighborhood, didnt realize it was on fire until his neighbors started yelling at him. A pair of officers who were in the area yesterday evening called for help on their radios. Then, they noticed two children were trapped upstairs. The officers and neighbors instructed the kids to break the windows, then told them to jump into their arms. The little boy was hanging. The told him to jump and everybody came at the same time so we could use our arms together and caught him. We caught the kid. Ive got nothing left. But and glad to be here. A man was also rescued from the second floor. Eight people were injured, including two firefighters and a police officer. They are all expected to be o k.
