Continuing thought and wonder humans are caught in their lives in their thoughts in their hunger and ambitions in their avarice and cruelty and in their kindness and generosity too. In a net of good and evil a man after he has brushed off the dust and chips of his life will have left only the hard clean questions was it good or was it evil. Have I done well or ill. very much. It is yes the drafters in Nashville is very exciting I like. From here all right. It's I love I'm a big football fan and I've realized how lazy I am by watching football I was once I was watching the game and one team kicked off the other team right I got to go get in the drink right when I got up 1000 kicked off and before I could get back the guy ran 100 yard kickoff return and I missed it so that guy ran 100 yards before I could get 3 to maybe 4 yards. He also had 11 people really trying not to let him run 100 yards I didn't even have an autumn and it was wide open. I need to get in better shape guys should do something you know go do some but I realized recently I like to golf and I'll go ball thing on the road and one time I was golfing and I was hot and I was in the parking lot and I want to change shirts before I got in my car so I'm standing at the trunk of my car and I take my shirt off I have no shirt on and this old man walks up to me and goes a living. It is looking for his elderly wife and saw me with no shirt on. And a car that he does not recognize none of this is enough to not make him say it is like a living. I turned I covered up and I was like what's. Amusing Are you honest mistake I was like God that hurts worse than seeing a Livia. I don't know if indeed more me or Livia I think we could both have a word with him. I love Demeter. Love I love to see her and be like. I get it you know like that I was an honest mistake. I. I travel I do travel law if I fly Delta if I buy a ticket through Delta system my name in the system is Nathan and I my license my name is the Faneuil I do not remember making this decision but it's a big deal you can't just change it I've tried I've asked Delta and they're like we can't aren't I don't know where we go from here you know if you can do it you can do it do you call senators I was center just I don't know how high do I have to go . What do you have to do you have to mail your burst of ticket in some moms give their kids their birth certificates I've never seen mine I thought I was the proof of my birth. And. You've got a melody and I'm not I'm not a big melanin guy I've milled maybe 4 letters my entire life. Stamps make me nervous you know how many put on there I don't know. And they change the price of stamps and they don't that's not in the new so you don't find that out on Twitter. You have to find out for more people then the only people that know. Yeah they're tell you they're like stamps enough you're like Ok. And they're furious you like is it $100.00 I've never seen you that mad. I will never go through this process to get my name changed judges deal with it and it gets brought up I was checking a bag once and the guy behind the counter sees my ticket says Nathan the license is the thing you can use like this is not good. Names don't match and as I thought they match right I mean you can see the leap that we took to get from one to the other. And here's I but they're not the same as a good the same and I mean at this point as I get his guy finds out he will call me Nate he's going to lose is mine like. He's going to call the police to like there's a guy with 3 names trying to fight like you guys want to shoot him or something. I say what you want me to do and he goes you should go home now I was honest. I mean I can't believe you made it this far. I said let me try it should I just try it you know as a look I'll give you those names don't match what I think is going to help the ton is the picture on the id. I mean I think with 100 percent face 70 percent of the name that's 170 percent. I think I'll get through. And he was like Look man I get it all right he's trying to relate to me. This is honestly I this is honestly what he said is like my name's Joseph That's isn't my license but if I buy a ticket under my dick name Bart they're not to let me through. Those are 2 different names as I don't act like we're the same. I do. I am married as well and it's fine you know you just do it that's what my wife said. Just get through it. This is what marriage is like you know just one person talking the other is like I will get out of here. My wife always shows tells me that I don't like the way she talks and it's not the sound of a voice I like her voice I think I'd be a big problem if I was like Get your voice is just hated you know. To go to couples therapy and be like can you hear it right like it's not it's not fun. It's the information that she chooses to tell me at times. For instance we took a trip to Fort Lauderdale and her and our daughter are flying from here to Nashville were from and I was flying from Detroit we're meeting in Fort Lauderdale Airport I have to find them when they land so I called there because I was about to take off and I was like are it what time you guys leave and she goes name into Levon 30 in the still at home I was like Lara I don't know if you know what an airport is but if that plane was in our driveway I don't think you could make it. And she doesn't have time really for the airport or flights out so 130 and I was like Ok All right. So so what do you think I want to know when I ask that. Is that what you thought the best information you could give me was a time that means nothing to nobody. What time did you go to bed just tell me that and I'll just look up all the planes that land in Ford and I guess that's what I think you're all. Like I'm sorry don't talk to where you want me to talk to Mike I want to talk like a regular person all right I don't know if. We didn't talk in Florida to tell you that. I thank you guys very much I really. Get could have been. So it has been a hell of a week for musicians birthdays starting with someone I learned about while prepping for today's show ma raining. Know I'm I have been in a band with you for over a decade now and I still worry I'm going to mispronounce your name. Yeah sorry. It doesn't really roll off the old tongue but but you did well Chris I mean there's room for improvement but you did well so I'm not the worst that the worst no no no you're not the worst night even close my my name has been properly butchered over the years my 1st national gig I dropped out of i.b.m. a Festival and I got to play on the main stage there and that mc introduced me as Neil McConkey I that was my big introduction hello world this is the life I've chosen for myself and you know McConkey But honestly like people have trouble with my name going way back even in the progressive north suburbs of Chicago people have been troubled by 20 years ago they were there was a little girl in my kindergarten class. For about 6 months she thought my name was no one I have always been having troll but I was the instance that takes the cake actually happened here in Nashville Tennessee Stuart Duncan and I were invited to play on the Grand Ole Opry a couple years ago and this was our 1st chance to play on the Opry under our own names of course played on the Opry many times before but as members of band so this was going to be an opportunity to have our names called out on the Grand Ole Opry and this is something we are looking forward to. So much when we arrived at the Grand Ole Opry we discovered that the great Roy Clark was going to be hosting our segment of the show and we were tickled about this is the last time we had a chance to be around Roy Clark before he passed away this was such such a thrill but it dawned on Stuart and me right after we got there that there was just no chance in hell that Roy Clark was going to be able to pronounce my name. And so we were just kind of giddy with anticipation to see what was possibly going to happen Stuart and I we stood on the side of the stage getting ready to go on and this woman came up to me and said no. I work with Roy Clark and I'm here to check pronunciations Ok good she said Is your name pronounced Gnome to kill me and I said yeah that's that's perfect I don't be just great she kind of looked down and folded her arms and said. Well Roy is going to do his best. No no pressure it's just going to be fine like I could introduce this new McConkey a growth up my name was no one no pressure it'll be fine said No Roy is going to do his best. Right Clark went out there on stage he's going to refer a little while finally got to the moment and he said Ladies and gentlemen please give a great grand or apre welcome. And pickle me. And you know although. We walk down. The audience with. Our big moment they were still laughing about 3 minutes into the song the entire time I couldn't focus for the life of me for the entire time I was trying to figure out what happened. To Clark put so much energy into memorizing my name to nothing. It was baffling I finally told the story to a friend of mine I can recall they said oh Duncan although of course I know there was the actor who played. And so finally I had clarity about that moment that that exact moment right Clark would have much rather been home watching reruns of than listening to Stuart and Doc and I played banjo hopefully you guys aren't feeling similarly right now your pick up a tune. And song called My mother thinks I'm a lawyer. Listen about things your theories found America 3rd from the curiosity as Hope you enjoyed .
