And my Law Enforcement authorities, my sources, theyre telling me that this investigation is continuing on a very methodical pace. Theyre checking databases to see if any violent offenders or sex phonedders were in this murdered. Its the kind of police work you would expect to take place, but whats really tough for this investigation is the very real possibility that vanessa may not have known her killer. This is going to be a really challenging case, especially if the killer is a stranger to the victim. The reporter Northeastern University criminologist jack levin has made a career of studying cases just like the murder of Vanessa Marcotte in princeton. I asked him what he sees in the known and the thing that draws his attention most is the wooded desolate area off brook station road, where Vanessa Marcottes body was found. You would really have to suspect that we are talking about someone who is extremely familiar with this community. He might not have been a neighbor, but he certainly understood the area itself and thats more important in solving home of Vanessa Marcottes mother, where vanessa was visiting. The woods here are dense, there are no houses anywhere in site. All of it levin suggests the killer could be local. Most cases, people who commit homicide have a comfort zone, and that comfort zone is in the neighborhood, in the community where they live. The reporter jack levin has also spent his career studying and interviewing serial killers. He believes vanessas killer is not at that not the work of a skillful, serial killer whos going to take lots of lives or maybe already has. The reporter now, jack levin tells me that the prolific serial killers who he has studied, who he has interviewed, tells me they all go to Great Lengths to make sure that they are not caught. He does not see that here in princeton. He thinks this killer has made idea for police to look at everything thats on the plate right now, including any reports of any female joggers who have been approached by a stranger. Fox 25s crystal haynes was in court and sadly, years of abuse led up to this childs death. The prosecution has evidence that this little girl suffered abuse for years. Her mother, katlyn marin gauge, actually changed her last name while in custody, and shes accused of beating that little stepfather and we know that that man now is a key witness in this case. 26yearold katlyn marin gauge in tears in her three hour interview with Nashua Police as her daughter laid in a local hospital, later pronounced dead. The mother of five is accused of beating 3yearold brielle gauge on november 25th, 2014, causing her death. Injuries were that of a battered child syndrome. The reporter brielles paternal grandmother is saying shes staying strong for her granddaughter. Its very sad. I saw the autopsy photos from the judges bench and its sad to know, she could still be here. There was around eyewitness attack on brielle. An eyewitness that saw the defendant beat brielle to death. That eyewitness, her fiancee, Michael Rivera and the he is the man that taught brielle to walk and the man that brielle called daddy. He was the same man, whoever, sat idle as the defendant beat her daughter to unconsciousness and eventually to death. Investigators say marin gauge allegedly tried to enlist a friend and her father in a plot on riveras live. Rivera allowed police to record more than 800 calls between himself and marin gauge, between november 28th, 2014, through january of the next year. The pool at the south End Fitness Center has been leaking thats according to some records obtained by fox 25. Now, the pool in question is behind these large windows lear were in albany and North Hampton street and check this out. Back in january, engineers found the pool was losing more than six gallons of water a minute. Thats roughly this much water managers made the decision to keep the pool open. At a time when water in boston is in short supply, thousands of gallons have been leaking out of this cityowned pool at the south End Fitness Center. Records obtained by fox 25 investigates show, managers knew about the leak for at least a year, but chose to keep the pool open. Tax dollars really be wasted, when it could be used to fix the pool. The reporter we showed what we found to south end resident Engineering Firm hired by the city found the pool was losing 9,100 gallons over a 24hour period. The leak coming from a drain pipe at, most likely, groundwater level. Obviously, you know, its the citys responsibility to, you know, make sure everything is on the up and up. The pool and the Fitness Center are return by the Boston Public Health commission. No one would speak to us on cameras, but a spokesperson said the pool was safe for use, despite regular wear and tear. Violations earned the pool a failed inspection in december, and city inspectorrors ordered management to provide proper lighting, ventilation, and sanitary conditions. Still open when we checked it out, the city says it will close the pool next week, so surveyors can look for ways to upgrade the facility, including a fix for the possible leak. Coming in from the east is where the winds are first thing in the morning, so theyre coming in this way, but the upper parts of our atmosphere, winds will be coming in from the west and thats going to be coming in coming from the southwest behind this front. All Different Directions, when you have different winds coming from Different Directions and Different Levels of the atmosphere, you start to get wind share, all of it adds up to a spin in the atmosphere, or a turning motion. Doesnt mean everything storm will start to turn, but the ingredients are starting to be set up, and thats what were looking at for tomorrow. Thats this front coming through during the morning hours. So any one of these storms if they become a thunderstorm, its something well have to watch fo the highest risk, where the best ingredients will be out here in western to central massachusetts, something jason will be watching very closely in the morning. Ignore the arrows for now, because this system coming in in the afternoon, winds shift to the southwest and well get rid of the easterly component. That means a lesser risk of spinning in the atmosphere, not zero, but still, well get into the sticky air and any breaks of sun that we start to see will fire up these thunderstorms that can become severe middle of before they start to pull on out of here late tomorrow night. Vanessa the prestigious prep scho profile sex assault case is demanding the victim identity be made public. St. Paul student owen labrie was found guilty of assault last august. The victim in the case is suing the school and is only known as jane doe. The victim they have want to know the victims name, saying Court Proceedings are supposed to be open and transparent. Prosecutors say juan powell shot a man on blue hill avenue late with a 9yearold boy in his car. The victim of the shooting suffered serious injuries. Police spent several hours looking for powell and the boy before they were both found if reveal. He is due back in court in september. Not be able to eat, not be able to move, not be able to breathe eventually. And the prognosis is, this will happen within a two to five year period.
