The convicted rapist spurred an outcry in weymouth appeared in court after being picked up on alleged probation violations. Been covering it every step of the way. Robert, his visit to the library is what officials are concerned about . Blair, richard gardener is not suppose god anywhere near a place that was frequented by children, well, probation officials down in rhode island say his trip here to the thomas Frame Library was a clear violation of that. Richard gardener had a hood over his head, blocking his face with his hands, while a judg understood why he was back in custody. Mr. Gardener [inaudible] gardener, just out of prison after serving 28 years for kidnapping and raping children in rhode island and massachusetts, was picked up friday night on a warrant, accusing him of violating the the conditions of his probation. Fox 25 confirmed last week, gardener used a computer in the Quincy Library and a staff member reported it to police after recognizing him from outraged, he was out of prison earlier than everyone expected. Fox 25 uncovered the Plymouth County d. A. Made a mistake and did not assess whether gardener was still sexually dangerous and possibly asked the judge to keep him committed after he served his sentence. Plymouth d. A. Told rhode island proation officials about the Library Incident in a warrant was issued to arrest gardener. His attorney in court doesnt think this violation is clear enough. So, a location thats frequented by children might arguably be a might be a hospital, like childrens but not a hospital like mass. General. And rhode island has 30 days to extradite gardener back to their state. He will likely be sent back later this week. If he is found to have violated that probation, he could serve up to another 30 years.
