Good morning guys, the poll open up this morning at 6am and when you walk into your polling place voters what to make sure they bring their i. D. One thing to remember today is that its a dual primary. That means the republican and democratic primary is happening at the same time, but understand that you can only vote in one. Once poll workers verify your identity you will be handed a ballot with a privacy slip. Here in the commonwealth, trump has a little less support, but he is still the front runner. In a cbs news poll, trump has 40 percent of the support as compared to rubios 27 and cruzs 22 percent. On the democrat side, cnns latest poll gives Hillary Clinton a 55 percent lead over challenger Bernie Sanders 38 the cbs poll shows an even virginia. She leads sanders 59 to 39 percent. With warm and mainly dry weather in the forecast, Mother Nature shouldnt cause voters any trouble today across the commonwealth. You would think this warm weather would encourage voters to head to the polls today, but as you mentioned there really hasnt been much of a correlation in recent years between nice weather and high voter turnout. During the last Virginia Republican primary in 2012, only 265,000 virginians voted despite the fact that conditions were dry and seasonably warm. Meanwhile, in 2008, conditions were cool and damp with even a little bit of snow on the roads, but that didnt stop over a million virginians from voting in the republican and democratic primaries. Now, obviously there were likely other factors that contributed to those turnout numbers so we cant necessarily make a blanket statement that warm weather means less virginians will vote today. Matthew is already serving life in prison for an unreleated Sexual Assault case that happened back in 2005 in in Roanoke County were learning more details about the teen killed in an officerinvolved shooting. Police say 18 year old Kionte Spencer had what appeared to be a gun in his hand, when they responded to a call for service near electric road and brambleton avenue. Police say they asked him to drop his weapon but he did not. Thats when officers tried to use tasers, but they didnt work. Two Police Officers then opened fired. One shot hit spencer in the shoulder, the other hit his hip. Police later found out the weapon was infact a bb gun. Spencer was taken to the hospital where he later died.
