New technology can help rescue in Hillsborough County to cut down on search time. Reporter from a thousand feet up, this deputy is hovering out of the sight of the hillsborough search and rescue chopper, tracking the signal of a missing person. Today is just a Training Exercise but for her, this happens for real all too often. 16 times last year, deputies were able to recover missing people using this safety net bracelet. Worn 24 hours a day, it helps track the location of a missing person if they wander. Sheriffs office can find someone in minutes instead of hours. Time is everything when someone goes missing. Reporter they can track the signal from the air and on the ground. A few days ago in plant city, someone wandered off wearing the safety net bracelet. Deputies found them in 25 minutes. They are urging those with loved ones with a Cognitive Impairment to get this device. If the loved one does go missing, we have a great chance of responding and finding them very soon. Com. Big stuff going on today. 20 years ago, i was part of the team that put together the first disney marathon. They wanted to try and get people to run through all the theme parks before they opened up. So it was a huge logistical nightmare. But since then, this event has taken off. It is the biggest event in orlando, and just about a half hour ago the runners stepped off, about 26,000 of them, for the beginning of the Half Marathon today. The full marathon is on sunday. They will start today at Magic Kingdom and go to epcot. Good luck to them. I was there at the beginning when they say, operations is never going to let you have folks running down main street. Looks like its happening. Looks like we have some fog happening right now as well. We have a little fog and haze out there, looking down toward Davis Islands. For the most part were clear on the radar. We have some showers out west and thats going to come into play later this afternoon as the rain comes in. That will be ahead of a cold front that will drop temperatures and we have High Pressure building in for much of the workweek. But the temperatures are going to be quite a bit cooler. Checking out Current Conditions right now, most everyone is in the mid50s to mid60s, 64 right now in st. Petersburg, 55 in bartow. The big story is going to be visibility, down to about a mile in bartow, so slow things down. Less than two miles in brandon and zephyrhills, about a half mile in hudson. So if youre heading out this morning, beware of that fog. Its going to linger around probably till about 10 00. Then well see things clear out and the rain come in. Right now we have temperatures in the 50s and 60s across the state. There is a front pulling through right now around new orleans where you can see this little bubble of warmer weather. Thats been with the warm front trying to lift up. This cold front is going to be swinging into our area by later this afternoon into this evening and clearing things out tomorrow. Noon and then watch as the showers move in. Posted areas from spring hill through new port richey, and by about 8 00 well have lingering rain but most of the heavy stuff moved off to the east. Tomorrow maybe 20 to 30 chance of rain. Then the cold weather sets in. Cold weather setting in most areas. Well clear things out by later on as they start the houston game about 4 30 this afternoon, here on abc action news, texans hosting the chiefs in the wild card game. Later this evening, an outdoor stadium with some rain and raw conditions for the steelers in cincinnati against the bengals. Nearly 20 million self driving cars could be on the road by 2025, the new prediction from mobile and Digital Market Research firm juniper. Nearly every major automaker is working on a driverless car right now. Google has logged the most miles so far on public roads. Announce their effort to team up in the market. And they rank as the most promising because of technology development, miles already tested on the road and scale of the project they are planning. But the biggest hurdle for all of them are the ruling for selfdriving cars. California is proposing requiring all Driverless Cars to have a licensed driver behind the wheel at all times.
