Thousands of mammogram records sitting somewhere in Pinellas County after a popular mammogram senor closed last year. Investigator Shannon Behnken worked for weeks to help women get those important files back. She tracked down the former medical director for his side of the story. Diagnostics center abruptly closed and a growing number of women are turning to me for help getting their records back. Im shannon with channel 8. Center owner john parker iii tells me he locked the records in a Storage Facility in Pinellas County. He admits hes overwhelmed. He meets some women with records. Others hear nothing. State officials tell me someone else is responsible for the files. The former medical director. Track him down. And finally found him at a new job. So yo dont feel youre responsible . Correct. He actually has a pretty good explanation. State Health Officials list dr. Henry as the last medical director of womens diagnostic. But he left the company in march 2015, thats seven months before the center shut its doors. A new medical director was never listed with the state. Time. Does that responsibility leave with your employment . Good question, i dont know the answer to that. He feels terrible about what happened to his former patients records but hes not happy his name is any where near this debacle. Did you know how he was handling this . That he had these records . At some point in time he did contact me and he stated that he had ownership of the records. And that they were kept in state officials have no record of a new medical director and ask that all impacted women file a complaint so they can look into it. The Sheriff Deputies are at the rodeway inn in New Port Richey where a wanted suspect barricaded himself inside. Were told deputies evacuated the motel. Theyre trying to communicate with that person. The allegations against the director of the Public Transportation commission that hes getting a little too chummy with the Cab Companies. In emails it appears to show that kyle was actually telling those Cab Companies and cabbis to fight ride sharing in hillsborough county. Today there was a push to try to get him on paid administrative leave to remove that failed. Kyle cochrane will stay as the director of the ptc and we chased him down and got some answers. Quite candidly, i think it was a witch hunt. When somebody tells you dont worry, its not a witch hunt, its a witch hunt. But some of those emails really include what looks like a very chummy relationship almost encouraging the cabbies to fight any ride you. I would say there are emails that are copied to me. And this is what is astonishing. There are emails that are copied to me. Im not even part of the conversation. So stacie, also today at the meeting, there were Cab Companies there. Limo drivers there saying that Kyle Cochrane is trying to enforce the law to get uber in place, because its not allowed. Its illegal in hillsborough drivers said youre doing the right thing. He said i have to enforce the law whether or not i agree with it. This is not over yet. They did vote on an internal investigation that will now take place. Count on 8 on your side. Developing this morning, a story sparking outrage from coast to coast, a controversial request from the pentagon involving cash bonuses that were given to service members. Now the pentagon wants the money back. Even though as we hear from to pay it back. When the military needed more troops to fight wars in iraq and afghanistan, the california National Guard started handing out bonuses of 15,000 or more. This was from my first deployment. He served two tours of combat duty in iraq. And now hes being asked to return his 20,000dollar bonus. What went through your mind when you first got that letter saying you owed mo we stepped forward, we volunteered, signed on the line, did our duty, and now theyre slapping us in the face for it. Thousands of soldiers were signed up by military recruiters. In some cases, the recruiting officers knew the soldiers werent really eligible for enlistment bonuses but signed them up any way. In 2011, a so called incentive manager for the california three other officers pleaded guilty to fraud. Bonuses went from a small group of Critical Skills to almost everybody that was joining was eligible. In a lot of instances, soldiers would get paychecks that are far and above greater than their normal pay. Rather than forgiving the bonuses which were in some cases improperly handed out. The guard assigned auditors to track down the money. The california National Guard doesnt have the unilaterally wave these debts. Even though those who signed up and got bonuses didnt do anything wrong, the auditors found a total of 37 million may have been wrongly paid out. Since the Los Angeles Times first reported the story, elected officials on both sides of the aisle have criticized the pentagon. And are now calling for change. Its disgraceful that we would ever treat those men and women who came to the call of this country after 9 11 to put them in this situation. Relief cant come soon enough. She fell down trying to get out of the way as this deer ran down the sidewalk. Heres where it all started. Somehow a deer got inside a building under renovation. And for two hours, Police Officers and game wardens tried to coax the animal out of the building. Eventually the deer did get out of the front door and ran down the street. The woman obviously startled at and fell breaking her nose. Then she had to be taken to the hospital. Thats why its attributed to the deer. A man in a tree costume is in jail this morning in maine. He was sited for treason. Not really. He was actually sited for impeding traffic. Take a look at this.
