As it heads due north, its going to put ic west side. The weaker side. Still a strong storm. But unfortunately its going to bring the brunt of the worst weather. The worst storm surge to haiti. And the eastern portion of cuba. As we head into the middle of the week, it reemerges as a category three storm. Still a major hurricane. Travels through the bahamas. Slowly weakens off floridas east coast. Category 2 storm for friday and saturday. This storm is moving off the at this point, most computer models keeping this system off floridas east coast. It bears watching none the less. The Hurricane Center is literally watching it from the center of the storm. Heres the computer models. Theyre generally in agreement coming up north of cuba. Then they get a little bit widerrings places along the South Carolina, North Carolina coastline. Some of those computer models are closer there, some farther out into the atlantic. In our headlines today for our local weather, heavy down pours will push toward the coast later this evening. Matthew passes to our east. And once it gets to the north, its going to draw in slightly dryer, less humid air for us. Ill talk about that coming up. New this morning, a run down motel in st. Petersburg that hundreds of people called home is now closed for good. Sheriff deputies moved into the mosely motel a couple hours ago to make sure all the residents were out. A new owner plans to turn the news channel 8s ryan hughes was there as residents said good guy. Its moving day in st. Petersburg. In the past couple weeks, 400 residents packed up their stuff and left. Ashley stall packed as the deadline lumed. Ive been moving for like two weeks now and helping other people get out of here. It may say motel on the sign. But to stall and her six kids, this was home the past two years. Its like losing family, know. Miami realestate firm cal bought the dilapidated motel and plans to demolish it to make way for a business development. Residents were recently served with eviction notices. Im bringing the rain chance down from 50 today to tomorrow. The Hurricane Force winds, the maximum sustained winds are at 140 Miles Per Hour. But they only extend about 35 miles out from the center. The Tropical Storm force winds extend almost 190 miles out from the center. Thats whats beginning to lash places like cuba, the dominican republic, haiti, and jamaica. Jamaica remains on the western side, the slightly weaker side. The worst conditions will be for haiti over the next 48 its not going to be north until wednesday. And then traveling right along florida is justine off floridas east coast. Its something were keeping a close eye when we look at category 2 hurricanes so close to us. But all the models continue to say its going to stay off the east coast, it may bring breezier conditions as we head into wednesday and thursday. But the interesting thing is its actually going to bring us nice weather. Once it pushes to the north. Humid air for friday, saturday, and sunday. Its good timing. Youll have a great weekend. I can call literally a auto dialer that costs me about 900. Scammers evade the do not call list by sending bogus numbers to caller ids and hiding the source. A lot of calls originate from other countries out of the reach of u. S. Law enforcement. Its so bad, the government convened a Robo Call Strike force of Companies Working toward a solution. Lot of scammers are third parties hired by legit companies, threaten them. Im calling the fbi on you. Right when i hang up this phone, im calling the fbi, and then do it. Register land lines with the fcc approved website no mo robo to screen incoming numbers against a data base of known spammers. Heres the official forecast, as it moves north, it remains a category 4 hurricane as it slams into the tip of haiti. And possibly the worst storm surge in haiti. But even our worst Case Scenario with this european computer model keeps us on the dry side of things and drying out with less humidity for friday, saturday, and sunday,.
