News channel 8s mary mcguire has the story tonight from pinellas county. Reporter st. Petersburg Police Believe the two teens who were shot were the uninvited guests at a Birthday Party gone bad. Hotel guests got a scary wakeup gunfire erupted on the fourth floor. I was laying in bed not sleeping yet, didnt really hear any party noise or anything but heard four pops. At first i thought it was firecracker, but they werent spaced like firecrackers would be spaced. I was pretty sure it was a shooting. Reporter just before 1 a. M. Today a fight broke out after uninvited guests showed up to a Birthday Party held in a room there. Shots were fired by several different subjects and two people at least hit. Reporter during the course of that argument two teens were shot, 19yearold Octavius David Brown in the upper body and 17yearold Demetrius Crawford in the hand leaving hotel staff shaken. Theyre shocked about obviously the situation and are trying to assist their guests to the best of their abilities. Reporter the shooting happened when a lot of kids were staying at the hotel staying for a gymnastics competition over the weekend held at tropicana field. Families tell news channel 8 stay tonight. Hotel guests tell us they have been offered a free nights stay at the holiday inn because of this entire ordeal. In st. Petersburg im mary mcguire, news channel 8. Right now directives are still following up on leads and interviewing witnesses. No arrests have been made yet. Tonight a part of i75 in Sarasota County still shut down. The Highway Patrol said a fuel tanker crashed before 5 a. M. This morning in north port which caused a huge fuel leak and crews are very busy cleaning up the fuel and resurfacing the road. Southbound interstate 75 is not expected to open until late tonight or early tomorrow morning. The tanker driver has serious injuries. Further north on interstate 75 in Sarasota County two people died in a crash near nacomas road. State troopers are still new details in a hookah bar shooting in tampa this weekend. 27yearold manuel ortiz, jr. Died when a gunman opened fire at the hookah bar early saturday morning. Roughly 50 people were in the bar at the time. Three others were injured of tonight deputies are still looking for that gunman. In pasco county deputies need your help in identifying this man. They believe he may be responsible for car burglaries in the Foxwood Community in trinity. If you know who he is or have any clues, please call the pasco county sheriffs office. A bittersweet service this morning for members of a haines city church. On tuesday the First Haitian Baptist Church caught fire gutting the building destroying everything inside. News channel 8s chip osowski joins us live now from the church. Have investigators determined exactly what caused this fire . Reporter investigators have not determined a cause, but look for yourself. You can see just how extensive the damage is, the pastor telling us the church lost the congregation are asking for help, possibly looking for a temporary new location. Their building is burned, but we are not defeated. We serve a living god. We serve the most powerful god ever, so we know our god will provide. So there is no difficulty. Reporter at the First Haitian Baptist Church there are no longer any pews, a pulpit. Last weeks fire didnt strip this congregation of its faith. This is their first church in haines city, so i grew up here and this church has been here a long time. It doesnt feel like its real. Reporter to make matters worse, the church was not insured. The pastor tells us the building was damaged by one of the hurricanes that blew through here in 2004 and because of the age of the building he tells us the church was not able to get insurance. Reporter the first shots were fired before 6 00 saturday night in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The gunman shot a mother who was with her three children. Shes in serious condition. About four hours later and 15 miles away shots were fired at a car dealership. 18yearold tyler smith and his father killed. A 14yearold girl reported to be killed survived, rushed into surgery after she squeezed her mothers hand. Shes in critical condition. In all the shooter had eight victims, six were killed. About seven hours after the first shots were fired Police Arrested 45yearold jason dalton without incident. Authorities found a gun and other evidence inside his car. Dalton is an uber driver who Authorities Say has ties to the community. His neighbors say he was a normal working family guy. Would have never suspected anything like that. Reporter what connects the alleged gunman, the locations and victims . Police say nothing. The randomness of this is hard to deal with and thats one of the most frightening things about it.
