Reporter it certainly is because they all came around the same time. And the sheriff is furious. In the span of a few days. The Highlands CountySheriffs Office learned three different teachers exchanged lewd photos with young students. Detectives say Sebring High School teacher Amanda Roser Cannady sent nude photos of herself to two students. She has resigned. Deputies launched an investigation into bridget silva, a teacher at avon park high school. She had nude photos of a 16 yearold student on her phone. She is now on administrative leave. And stacy hooks was charged charged with having sex with a 14yearold. It is unfortunate that people are making such poor it. It is all selfserving and they are not thinking of another they do things like this. Reporter today, we went to the Highlands County school board to see what is being done to protect students. I was met by deputy superintendent Rodney Hollinger camera. He says that they are cooperating with police. Kids should not be afraid to send their kid to school saying we are not going to overlook anything. We will investigate fully. If parents are concerned they need to talk to administrators. Next tuesday, the sheriff will meet with the school board to talk about the child abuse reporting laws. John rogers, newschannel8. Another day, another ridiculously long line outside we wanted to find out why people are forced to wait hours and hours. The irs is blaming the long lines on budget cuts. Jeff patterson is demanding answers tonight about what is being done about the long lines and he joins us live from the irs office in tampa. This is really frustrating to say the least. One woman told me they just need to fix this. Reporter yeah, good evening rod. You have seen the line here, the office is closed now. The line is gone. But it is more than likely the line will be back here tomorrow and people will be standing around for hours without getting help. At the irs office in tampa, people are angry. It is my third office today. Reporter lee denise jaquez said she had to show up with a photo id to prove who she is. There. I am from orlando. Reporter the long lines today, we called the irs to ask what is going on. As you know, we have been reporting about long lines at the irs office in tampa. Can you tell me what is being done about that now . First of all, you know, we causes. Reporter we are not the only ones asking for answers. U. S. Senator bill nelson wrote the commissioner of the irs asking him to respond appropriately to the long lines at the tampa office. 8 on your side contacted kathy castor as well who says she has been fighting republican cuts to the irs and calling the long lines unacceptable. In a statement to 8 on your side, the irs told us the irs budget has been reduced by about 900 million since 2010. And by the end of the year, we will be down by nearly 18,000 employees. Asked the irs what they plan to do about this problem now. We are bringing in additional staff. Reporter the irs mailed out these letters. Thousands of them had gone out. But they said they will be senning additional staff here. They plan to set up appointments so the long lines can be avoided. Frustrating to say the lease. Jeff patterson, thank you. A strong show of support for a hit and run victim as the suspected driver appeared in court. Tow Truck Drivers watched as Allison Huffman entered a not guilty plea. Tampa city council has decided to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana. They voted 61 to approve a new ordinance. People busted with 20 grams of pot or less will get a ticket instead of a misdemeanor. They think it will prevent people from getting a lifelong criminal record for what they call one small mistake. This is talking about giving people a second chance. The fine for the first offense is 75. And then, it goes up for repeat offenses. Mayor bob buckhorn has showed support for this idea and is expected to sign that into law. The best of the best at picking a suspect out of a crowd. In polk county, an ambulance crash shut down highway 60 for several hours. It was returning from the station in Winter Haven Hospital when it jumped a curb and knocked down power lines. The Saint PetersburgPolice Department has found several of those people who scored high of the super recognizer test to help identify and local suspects. Seven employees scored very high. In the top 2 in the nation. One of them is a civilian. The department is hoping to put their skills to use in the very near future. A mail carrier was honored man on his route. Terrell brown saw a man lying in the yard. It was an 84yearold man who had fallen and hit his head while he was trimming trees. He was badly injured and needed help right away. I made the decision to get an ambulance out here and i will stay with him and make sure he is all right. The man recovered and was there to thank brown for brown received a plaque and a letter from the postmaster general recognizing him for his actions. A commercial flight to cuba could be a reality very soon. Which two airlines are flying to cuba is about to get easier than ever before. Several airlines have announced their plans to have commercial flights. Jet blue and southwest have both applied to run flights. Before the wheels can go up, Tampa International airport has to beat out several other airports for the commercial flights, especially traveling people want to go. Georgiani chavez is going to cuba for the first time. Like most americans she charted her flight. But that could soon change. Several Airlines Hope to offer commercial flights to the island soon. I think it will be great. It is easier for us. Reporter several u. S. Carriers applied to the u. S. Department of transportation for u. S. Flight lines. Jet blue and Southwest Airlines would have several flights a day if approved. We have the Third Largest cuban American Population in the United States. Reporter out of 110 daily flights to cuba, only a few carriers from chosen airports to let to fly to havana. It will be a competitive environment for winning the flights. There are only 20 slots allowed from the United States to cuba. And there are dozens of from the United States. Reporter commercial business would mean a big boost to tampa bays economy. We have served about 73,000 people in 2015 which is a 65 increase over 2012. The first year, the first full year of operation. There is demand here for that service which is really important to the department of transportation to know. Reporter so over the next several weeks, officials plan to announce letters of support to the dot making their case why the flights should be awarded here.
